Tides of the Dark Crystal #3 (Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal) Paperback – June 25, 2019

I love watching the Dark Crystal Age of Resistance series and wanted to buy the novels to read. Overall, it was enjoyable reading the novels to learn more about the characters and plots that were not in the series. As a fan, having the novels is an absolute must.

Book 3 out of 4, a prologue story of the Dark Crystal universe and I believe it is leading up to the Netflix show that stars later in 2019. If the show is as good as the books then everything should work out. I might also add that before you start this series that you should read "Creation Myths," it's a three book set of graphic novels (hardcover) that tells about things that happened before Dark Crystal so if you read that first then Song/Shadow of the Dark Crystal and of course this one and the one coming out in August (I believe) then you should be fully informed for the new show. I didn't read CM until right before the third book, but it worked out really great, of course I wish I would have known about them sooner, but it all worked out. The story works really well as a young adult series, but appeals to adults as well. I've loved it since I read the movie novelization many, many years ago. (I didn't see the movie until years later) and still enjoy reading the books today. May also work well as a bedtime story as long as your child is ok with the themes of the story. I personally wouldn't have been afraid of the stuff in the books but I learned to read very early on and I loved to be challenged. But each child is different. Though with anything you expose your child too, it's probably best to be around when they experience it so you can go over any issues they may have or any questions. My mom was always great at answering questions that I had and that helps fuel the curiosity a young reader needs in order to keep going forward. I'm getting off-topic though. It's a great series of books and if you are a fan of the movie then you shouldn't miss out on this series.

Loved it! I got it for three Skeksis named SkekSa which I'm really interested in. Although the books are very Gelfling heavy, the times that did have Skeksis were really well done. It's a great way to see the adventures of other Gelfling that weren't in the Dark Crystal Netflix series. A good, easy read

Many thumbs up! Like with the first two, I found this one hard to put down; and it has an excellent cliff-hanger type of ending that will leave you anticipating for the last book in this series. A great book series to go with a superb film and upcoming tv series!

Dark Crystal fans will love

This most resent Dark Crystal book series has done an excellent job of flushing out the world of Thra as it was before the upcoming show.

I read this so quickly! I really enjoy these books, it gives us a really great picture of Thra and the world of the Dark Crystal!

I loves the first two books of the series but was a bit disappointed with this one. Amri is a bland protagonist - he watches important things happen but doesn't lways participate. He didn't have much of a character arc, and I'm still not sure what he wants, even after spending a whole book in his head. This volume seems to be more plot-driven than the previous installments.That being said, I still enjoyed the book. It introduced many new characters and locations. Looking forward to reading number 4!

Just read this one and, as before, was hooked straight away. Great cover illustrations but it's a shame the ones inside the book are in black and white only.
