I have an old brinkmann two burner barbecue that came with a thin grate that looked like powder coated aluminum, like what those DIY black wire shelves are made out of. I couldn't imagine trying to sear a steak on that. Two of the three of these are just an in inch short in width for my brinkmann but fit perfectly in depth, and I'm left with a spare. You definitely want to season as soon as you get them, I coated them and high temperature oil, in this case avocado oil, and then just had them sit in a 450° oven for an hour then I had them heat up in the grill itself and that was it--I inaugurated it with a bone-in ribeye that came out perfect and they've been working perfectly ever since.
