## Description

SteelStik is a hand-mixable, steel-reinforced, non-rusting epoxy putty that quickly repairs or rebuilds anything made of metal. After mixing, it forms an industrial-strength polymer compound that can be molded into shapes or used to build up, patch and repair steel components. SteelStik sets in 3-5 minutes and after 60 minutes, can be drilled, tapped, machined, ground, filed and painted. SteelStik cures to a dark grey color, is rated at a tensile strength of 900 PSI and will withstand temperatures up to 300ºF.

Review: I was able to easily seal up the scratches with this product - This putty works extremely well. I have used it for two automotive applications so far. My oil pan was leaking due to a few deep scratches. I was able to easily seal up the scratches with this product. It becomes hard after about 1 minute, so you need to work relatively fast, but it is perfect for use in an area if you don't have a long time to wait or can't clamp well. It has been about a month and it is bone dry under my oil pan still. I also used it to fix a plastic piece that held my throttle cable in place, which had snapped (see picture). Again, it was perfect because there is tension on the throttle cable and I had no way of clamping while the glue dried. I held the putty in place for about a minute, and it was strong enough for me to let go without the tight cable moving the newly repaired unit. Highly recommend for just about any use.
Review: VERY NICE - FIXED MY SPA - I used this to seal a leak in my SPA. It is actually under pressure and held great. Set time is only about 4 minutes so you have to be quick. It saved me a lot of work and a lot of money. The leak was right at the jet body so I would have had to replace a lot of pipe and the Jet body. Instead, I just sanded the pvc down a little to scuff the surface, mixed the two part putty, rolled it into a snake shape, pushed it into the seam where the leak was and let it dry. When I tested it 24 hours later, I was leak free. It has now been holding for about three months. Highly recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How difficult would this be to use in the threaded hole (threads stripped) of an exercise bike pedal crank arm?**
A: I realize this question is nearly 2 years old, but thought I would share my experience.I just used it top repair a thread on an antique car door handle where the pot metal thread was broken. The thread hole was missing 1/3. I threaded a screw into the remaining portion of the threads, and used this putty to mold a repair. I did use vaseline to coat the screw threads as a release agent; it worked very well. In 2 hours I removed the screw, and sanded the part to fit, today it is back on my car, the screw threads that were repaired felt like they held tight when I screwed it down.I can't vouch for how long it will hold up; but it is worth trying the repair before shelling out big bucks for a replacement part that doesn't match the patina of the rest of my door handles.

**Q: I have screw holes in a stainless steel range hood that i want to patch. After holes are filled, will it blend to look finished, or will patch show?**
A: Chris, I'm not sure if it will show or not, this stuff is fairly dark. I'd take a small amount, mix it as instructed and let it set up/cure per the directions. Then simply compare the cured steel stik to your range hood and see if it will match. If it doesn't match, you could always experiment with some silver paint to see if you could get it to match the stainless steel.

**Q: Can this product be used to fill in the hollow back of a ring that you wear on your finger?**
A: I would expect that, technically, it would easily fill and adhere to the ring surface. I would just not know how constant contact with your skin would react. The cured product seems rather inert but you might want to test a small amount placed against your skin for a couple of days to be sure. I would do this before permanently adding to the structure of a ring you might want to keep. I saw another answer recommending a two part product. This epoxy product IS a two part item as it has one part on the outside ring with a central core of the second hardener. You just tear off what you need and then twist and pull the putty-like substance until blended. It will harden like steel.

**Q: Does it work with pvc?**
A: It will but, first score the surface area of the pvc with a razor a lot. If possible put gouges facing away from the part you are connecting or opposite direction of load.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ the world's strongest bond
*by B***R on September 1, 2016*

The J-B Weld Company was founded in 1969 by Sam and Mary Bonham.Sam had discovered a need for a “cold weld” product to use in his truck service garage, instead of traditional torch welding. Working with a Texas A&M chemist, he formulated an original “tougher than steel” two-part epoxy and named it J-B Weld JB Weld claims to be "the world's strongest bond" and while I cannot confirm their claims, I can say that the product works. I've used JB Weld for numerous applications and never been disappointed. This tube comes with 2oz of epoxy putty (consistency of silly putty basically). You mix it together (two compounds) and then apply as needed. It sets up quickly and cures in 1hr. I generally think it's wise to let it cure overnight if you can but in 2-3 hrs it's hard as a rock. Most recently I used JB Weld to fit a rust spot in an old cast iron tub. I applied it consistent with the instructions, sanded it down, and painted over it with a white enamel and it looks almost as good as new. Also good for boats, cars, some plumbing applications, etc.
