The H99ICAT barely sticks up above the joists (I have 2x6 joists) - plenty of room. The mounting brackets are versatile, even allowing for use on a suspended ceiling grid. I just nailed them to the joists. Positioning the box using the between-stringer-supports was easy (cut off the tabs to make it fit when the ceiling sheetrock is already up). My favorite feature was the push in wiring box and connectors.
