Fabulous tool that helps you correct when needed.
I hope people who are planning on purchasing this notice that the majority of the negative reviews are from people who have never bought this product and are simply against using this kind of device on dogs. As a background, I had a fully trained Schutzhund dog from Germany. He is absolutely the best dog you could ever ask for. But just like any other shepherd, he only listens to one person (me), which translates to... he's a complete d*ckhead with other members of the family when they try to walk him. Really, Cesar Milan could walk him and he'd pay no attention to him. So enter simpleLeash. *heavenly music* I was skeptical and have always been one to study something for months, maybe years, before putting it into practice. I knew if used the wrong way, it could translate into a fearful dog, and a fearful GSD is a disaster waiting to happen. BUT considering he pulls other people in the family, I figured this might help in correcting the situation when it actually happens. The boyfriend was even more skeptical, and thought he would be torturing our dog by using this. HAHA... yeah, so when Albi first got shocked with him, he felt terrible. and then one miraculous day, he pulled him because he wanted to smell/lick something on the grass. Brian decided heck let him get shocked. Well, he did, and dog yelped a tiny yelp, and kept doing what he was doing. Which proves one thing: The dogs that need this are usually the strong breeds, which usually have high pain tolerance (they need it when they're in police work). Which means... this isn't torture at all. If anything, it's a surprise and that's that. We have it on the lowest setting, and it still helps. Unfortunately, my dog still only listens to just me, but this is a life saver when I'm sick and someone else has to take him out. Please don't listen to those who haven't bought it. No one will ever understand your plight with a dog that pulls more than me. And I have even hired different trainers and behaviorists to help with this problem, and nada. This leash is the best, even his vet wanted to know what it was because she thought it was a great idea (and she's a holistic mumbo-jumbo vet!).

no customer service email or valid #
Works well only when on. Smart dogs off the collar will pull. Only solution is true training with nothing but a leash and collar (painful for both). 1 star because NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. bought in September 2015.Stopped working in July 2016 for no reason. Batteries changed. Never submersion any sort of water. Probes are gently cleaned with a dry cloth. Battery changed again. It does not work. Their website does not load. They do not answer their customer [email protected] email. In fact, it came back as undeliverable . Their Telephone number goes to a gentleman's direct line. This company appears to be a total sham. If anyone has any suggestions for how I can contact them I would greatly appreciate it. I cannot return to Amazon it was bought in September.

Nothing short of Miraculous
Let me begin by saying this is a review for all the rational, realistic dog owners out there who have strong, dominate, stubborn or aggressive dogs. This is not for the idealist dog owner who believes in their heart of hearts all dogs are Lassie....gentle, obedient and laid back. For all those idealist out there writing reviews on this product without having personal experience using it...please stop and for the realists...judge objectively. Now that we have that out of the way, a little background. I have two South African Mastiffs or Boerboels. For those of you who are familiar with the breed...no explanation necessary...for those who don't, imagine 150 lbs of muscle and determination. Under normal circumstances my pups are loving, intelligent and fun. They are very food motivated making clicker and treat training a breeze in a nice calm, controlled environment. They walk beautifully on a leash around the house and even on the street. You'd swear they were born on a leash. The problem arises when we walk past a neighbor's yard...and that yard has another dog. My calm, loving, intelligent dogs turn into flailing masses of teeth, spit and general insanity. You can see my predicament. In that state of mind you can forget trying to distract them with treats and clicks...no matter how food motivated they are. No amount of praise or pats on the head would break them out of that trance. I've tried flat collars, harnesses and even prong collars. Results ranged from highly ineffective in the case of the flat collar and the harness to mildly effective with the prong. Then I decided to try the simpleLeash. Within the first walk, at factory settings I noticed a huge improvement. I was actually able to make the block without fear of losing my arm. The shock from the collar was no doubt uncomfortable but by no means damaging or dangerous. I would even say this type of correction would be far safer than a choke or prong because there is no pressure on the neck or vertebrae. When I bring out the collar my dogs are excited to see it and anxious for their walk...that should tell you something. The genius of the design is the beep before the shock. It reliably trains the dog to associate a pull with the beep..and a beep with the shock. The shock only happens after a couple seconds of beeping...giving the dog plenty of time to respond without correction. I must say I almost lost hope of being able to peacefully walk my dogs but this collar has definitely made it a more enjoyable experience for not just me but the dogs as well. Despite what others may think some dogs simply cannot be trained by positive reinforcement alone and this to me might be the most humane and effective form of negative reinforcement you can use. It's like having the skills and technique of a professional trainer in a box.

Beware!
Good idea but poor quality and questionable business practice. Received the collar shipped 2 day USPS but delayed (not their fault) so received it late. Testing revealed intermittent function. It beeped a couple of times, never shocked. Changed batteries, it beeped a few more times and shocked a couple of times but not always. BTW, the beep is barely audible. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way. The manual says that tension should be set from the factory at 5 lbs (middle range) and shock level set to lowest (of 3). The unit I received was set on heaviest tension and the highest shock level. Due to settings and drained batteries, I suspect that they sent me a returned unit. It worked intermittently but not always in testing. Returned waiting for refund. I may try to order again.
