My 11 year old fit perfectly in the XL. The XL says 12 on it. So maybe a M if you want it more fitted or L if a little room to grow in.

I purchased a medium for my son who wears size 8-10 clothes and it fits him comfortably length wise. An xs would most likely be 5-6.
