Best Dutch Oven
This is the best 4qt dutch oven. It resists chipping and scratching like crazy. It has been through some rough moments with little accidents with no harm done. I have other enameled cast iron cookware but I have to be extremely careful with when using them as they will chip easily with a good bang. Staub enameled cookware is a strudy and hardy product that can be used everyday and still look brand new. It is heavy but that is pretty standard with all cast iron products. I find that cleaning it is very easy with a soak and soft sponge. I use it for cooking and bread baking. It is a pretty color and it works very well. It is a pricey pot but worth every penny. If you time it well you can buy one deeply discounted. I could have paid 125$ more for the pot at it's regular price at Crate and Barrel or William Sonoma. I am thrilled with the pot and price point sale at Amazon. You can't go wrong with a Staub Dutch Oven. I am so happy with it my 4 qt that I am looking at finding a Turquoise Staub tall 5qt dutch oven as well. The search goes on.

Love This Dutch Oven
I needed a smaller Dutch oven that would fit in my new Breville oven, so I bought this four quart pan. I absolutely love this piece! I bought the Dutch oven in turquoise and was really surprised at how beautiful it is. This is my second cast iron pan from Staub and it won’t be my last. I have cooked some awesome dishes in this! The black non-stick surface works well to quickly brown food, creating flavor that can only be achieved with a fine pan. I plan to take good care of my Dutch oven by using silicone or wooden utensils only. There are plastic spacers that come with the pan that keep the top from moving around and chipping the surface. Even though you can technically put the pan in the dishwasher, I wash the pan by hand, to prevent rust, even though it probably would never rust because of the enamel coating. Clean up is easy because of the non-stick enamel surface. Staub is a great company that puts out a durable product and I truly believe that this Dutch oven will last a lifetime.

Great value
Perfect results when cooking or using in the oven. Heavy duty but lighter than my larger Dutch oven. I also have Le Creuset and the Staub is just as nice. Very pleased with this purchase.

When Only the Brest Will Do
Staub, with a cast iron interior finish, is simply the best of the best. Why? First, the interior is raw cast iron and not enamel. I had Le Creuset pots for years. The enamel chips. Scratches show up. If you overcook something in the pot, the enamel never comes back. None of them made the distance. But Staub has the right formula of enamel on the outside, cast iron on the inside. Second, the lid is heavy and fits beautifully. I use an oya for black beans which is a clay pot that makes creamy beans. The only pot that can reproduce that creaminess is the Staub because of its tight fitting top. Great for braising meats on the stove or oven. Highly recommended.

Great Dutch Oven!
Excellent Dutch Oven and got it on sale! Great quality from Staub. This is my second one. My wife and I both like to cook in it. It cooks consistent and heats evenly.

First rate quality
I chose matte black which has a beautiful and flawless finish. I own several pieces of Le Creuset enameled cast iron, and love them all. Staub is a step above, IMO. The lid is very heavy, seals well, and contains self basting moisture bumps on the interior surface of the lid which eliminates the need for constant opening for basting and stirring, reducing cooking time. Staub calls this the rain forest effect. Le Creuset lids do not offer this feature. Staub’s interior surfaces are coated in black, which I prefer. Very easy to clean and non staining. Le Creuset’s interior surfaces are white, which will eventually stain. This is my second Staub piece, will likely buy more. I also own the Staub 5 quart deep cocette in matte black. Highly recommend!

I like this cocotte...
... for myself. It is just the right size for a small roast or casserole, doesn't take up a lot of counter space and is surprisingly heavy for its appearance. It cooks evenly, holds temperature thru just about any length of meal, assuming it is moved from range to table, and could easily be mistaken for a centerpiece.Now... it is more delicate than one would think a cast iron pot would be. The surface inside is difficult to clean and not dishwasher safe, or at least not recommended. Has to be cleaned by hand and without any abrasives. They'll remove the interior coating which is rough and therefore not easy to clean. The interior coating is also black, meaning it is very difficult to gauge braising or opacity without a light directly overhead. The handles are cast iron and the lid knob is metal. Do not grab either when in service without a pot holder of some kind. If you do, it will be a memorable experience.I have not seen where this $400 pot cooks any better than any of my other cast iron, they are generally easier to clean and the other casseroles have a light colored interior making it much easier to see what is going on in there. While this may be left to someone in a last will and testament, I doubt it would be much more appreciated than any well maintained cast iron vessels, unless the recipient was a cast iron snob or a demanding gourmet chef that truly appreciated its capability and good looks despite its feature shortcomings.I have found after a number of months mine sets in an honored space along with some other shockingly priced cookware while lesser names easier to clean and handle provide the day to day cookery.
