Exactly what I needed to make arepas
I bought this hoping it would work to help me make home made arepas since doing it completely by hand is a pain and this is exactly what I was hoping for and I was totally surprised at the nice quality of the product. The finish is this shiny finish which is nice and smooth so I can tell it'll be super easy to clean and wipe off. I usually put a sliced plastic bag, the masa in the middle, then I press them down to make it easier to pull them and toast them on the grill. I plan on using the plastic bag in the center of my press, but it's nice to know wiping it down will be super easy. Weight wise - It's HEAVY but that is good. The weight keeps it steady on the counter top and makes it easier to press down the arepas. It actually can do way more than that as the writing mention empanadas and tortillas. It is nice and level and not wobbly. Simple to screw together - There's just a screw you undue to put the handle on. I have another one that is for pressing tortillas which is just like this. It's super easy and I can keep it unassembled and in a drawer and just add the handle as needed. I can see it will do the job. I'd give them a top score for finding a top manufacturer. This was definitely worth the money. I would buy this again for a family member or recommend it to friends who love to cook. I was very happy once I opened my package. The only glitch - my mail service stuck it into my mailbox and I barely got it out! LOL. Other than that, it is super, super nice. You won't regret buying this product. This company did a good job in finding this manufacturer since you can tell they know what they are doing. I can't wait for my corn meal to arrive as I cook and make my own masa for arepas.

Small size, big function
I would say this is a good iron tortilla press with small size. But if you don’t have a giant stomach, this is enough for single or small family using. Price is cheaper but very good quality. I checked bottom with non-skid varnish which looks perfect. I would strong recommend to buy.

Edge not good, Mold yes.
The edge isn’t deep enough to create the edge for sopes, (i’m a taquero by the way not just another white lady trying to replicate authentic mexican food) I do believe it makes the process a bit faster for selling by orders (ex. $10 for 3) these are about the right size and thickness, the parchment paper it comes with yeah don’t use it, it sucks it’s too thick and makes the masa stick, i use a cut up walmart bag or grocery bag (plastic) i would say it’s good for quicker and more precise mold but not for the edge it’s actually useless for that you still have to pinch it with your fingers or some thongs, the amount of dough you need is about 2 times that of a normal 6 inch tortilla

Must have
Love this for sopes. My four year old granddaughter does all the work and presses them for me.

Terrible Idea!
If I could, I would give this item negavitve stars. The coating came off during our first use, and you can't press anything less than 1/4" thick. I asked for a refund, which was approved, HOWEVER, it has to be returned in the original packaging, which was destroyed when it was delivered. It states that the buyer has to pay for return shipping, which will be expensive as it's heavy, as well as a 30% restocking fee. Overall it's not worth the return. The main complaint is that I bought this to make our own tortillas, but they are too thick. It doesn't do the one thing that it is advertised to do. :-(
