Works GREAT!
I arrived at an RV park and during check-in was told I couldn't get wifi at my site due to the distance from the access point. So, I ordered this BearExtender and had it shipped to the local UPS store. The install is easy. A CD is included to install the driver (didn't install anything but the driver - it's all you need). My laptop doesn't have a CD drive, and I didn't have a portable CD drive with me. I downloaded the driver from the website (see included quick start guide) using my phone as a hotspot. After installing the driver on my laptop, I plugged in the usb cord. At first the signal wasn't any better. But, then I used the included USB booster stick as instructed. Once I did that and selected the BearExtender (Wifi2) my signal went from barely there, hit and miss to max signal! Of course, I am still at the mercy of my RV park's crappy connection, but at least I can hit the wireless router strong. This device is a must-have for my travel trailer. No more weak signals in my travel trailer if I am at all within a reasonable distance.

I can't get good WiFi reception (if at all) in my RV which ...
I can't get good WiFi reception (if at all) in my RV which is parked a good distance away from the house I have WiFi installed. In fact, I can't even get good data signal on my phone inside. This antennae didn't help while inside but once I put it behind the electric converter box and pointed it to the plastic external door (which I opened a little for extra exposure) I'm getting good signal from half the neighborhood! The software barely took any effort to install on my W8.1 OS and the antennae was recognized and functioning perfectly without a hitch.I took two stars off because I use this on a laptop. The USB plug fits loosely inside the port (everything else fits well) and while in bed with the laptop internet is just impossible as the plug keeps losing contact and that means no internet, music or movies while in bed. Really disappointed in that.If you're using this for a desktop that isn't going to get moved at all then you're probably fine. I wouldn't recommend this for a laptop.Update: I recently bought a desktop computer and the usb fits snug. Maybe it was my laptop that was the issue. I'll now give this product a full 5 stars and highly recommend it, at least for desktop computers.

this did a great job penetrating thick
On a recent trip when we stayed in an apartment in an old building, this did a great job penetrating thick, concrete/plaster walls to get wifi signal from a friendly neighbor. This made the difference between hardly even being able to connect and having a screaming-fast connection. The 15-foot cable was very helpful because I was also able to improve signal greatly by putting the antenna in a location with decent signal and sit at a desk around the corner in an area that otherwise wouldn't have had much signal. The only negative was that I did need to use the enclosed optional USB amplifier in order to get the BearExtender to work. This gave me a solid network connection, but I was always a bit worried about the possibility of bumping the USB cable and ripping the amplifier out of my USB port. It would be nice if the amplifier had a short flexible cable to plug into the computer.

Didn't work after two uses.
The extender worked fine when I first installed it. On the road it worked for one use, then never did again. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but I was getting the same error messages. My professional IT brother confirmed that I was going through the steps correctly. Unfortunately I missed the return date, so I'll be trashing it now. I have found a much better way to work on the road, small town libraries! Always great internet and the librarians are always so nice. I get good advice about the town and usually a free cup of coffee. Be careful about buying gizmos on-line.

It does work, if I can get it to stay in the USB port
It does what it says, in a way, but it's extremely finicky. The USB plug is so loose in the port that I can't move my laptop or even slightly touch the cable or it will disconnect, instantly dropping me off the internet. Sometimes I will have to go back into the wifi settings and manually reconnect when it drops out. I tested it with multiple laptops, same problem with all of them.If your computer is set up perfectly flat on a desk and you can avoid touching the BearExtender at all while using it, it should be fine, especially if you're doing something that can handle a quick outage. And when it is working, it can be the difference between a wifi network being usable or not.Personally, I live on a boat and often need to be on video calls for work, so this didn't really work for me. I still use it as a backup option, but if I were purchasing again, I would probably spend the extra money for something more reliable.

It actually works!
My wife and I use out motorhome for camping and to visit our family. Many times the campgrounds don't have very strong wifi signals so we've struggled to get good connections. When we travel to see family (over 1000 miles) we boondock and often stay at Walmarts 2-3 nights in a row. They have free wifi in the stores but RV's usually park on the edge of their lots so getting a signal is usually impossible. I bought this with the usual concerns that it wouldn't really work but other reviews said they had good experiences with it. Downloading the software to your computer is easy (and you do need a computer) and setting it up is easy. It's directional so the first time I set in on the table in our RV, pointed it out the window at the entrance to Walmart and after a few connection adjustments on my computer I had a good signal that allowed me to read the news and browse the web. Obviously you don't want to use this connection for anything personal or that requires passwords as it's an open network. I'll be interested to see how it works when we're in campgrounds this summer But at this point I'm very happy with it's performance.

Successfully Boosts Weak Campground Signal
Arrived on time. Requires software download (a challenge when you bought the unit to boost an internet signal). Software on CD included in box, but it doesn't work and the instructions say to download from their site. When software loaded and unit positioned - it works well.

Good Value
Worked very well - marina application where laptop wasn't pulling in signal and this unit did. Recommended as good value for the money

Does what its supposed to
This product works as expected, as long as it is located relatively close to the router and within visual distance. I would say that it has good reception within 700-1200 feet, line of site.

one year after
Long range. Did complete a few tests and found 35 wi-fi addresses around my house .Before couldn't count more than12-14 . One star off due lack of info about country of origin: China.Died after one year. Money spent for nothing . Illusion will last forever. Think twice before order.
