Bright if you use a 12 - 10 gauge wire.
When I bought this 8 months ago I hooked it up with a used cable I thought was 12 gauge. The light was so dim, so why waste power? Unplugged. So today I was replacing 4 old cameras with 8MP IP and noticed that all the old cables said 12 gauge for the power. I cut the head off of the one I was using for this IR light and it was a loose 16 gauge/tight 18 gauge. So at 9PM at night I pulled a heavy gauge 115 volt AC extension cord out and plugged the power supply directly and POOF, Bright and wide.See the picture for wire gauge to distance. I was running 65 feet of 18 gauge. And use a good 12 Volt DC 5 Amp power supply. Most on Ebay have 20 gauge wire and that is good for 5-7 feet but 16+ gauge of a good supply will be much better.I will be running a dedicated 115V AC waterproof covered outlet out to the post and run just the power supply direct.

IR illuminator comparison.
Nice spread of light pattern that does not produce a halo. Most light is still focused forward although residual light does spread to more than a 90 degree range. I found that this emitter and the CMVision IR130 - 198 LED Indoor/Outdoor Long Range 300-400ft IR Illuminator have nearly an identical light pattern. The only difference being the IR130 has a slightly hotter center but both have about the same range and spread. I have also tired the Univivi U06R WideAngle Long Range 130 Feet 6pcs LED Array Lights IR Illuminator. It is much smaller and has a much shorter range. If you are trying to light up an area about 50ft from camera, use the IRP24 or the IR130, for closer distances use the U06R. I have a CMVision-IR200 - 198 IR LED Night Indoor/Outdoor Long Range 400-500ft IR Illuminator on order, once it arrives I will compare it also.

Nice wide dispersion of light, ideal for letterbox HD Cameras and displays.
First of all the picture displayed is not what you get, that unit is the model that displays white light and IR light. This IR unit has four rows of the LEDs that appear in the first and third row of the picture, all IR. This unit has a very wide dispersion of light, ideal for letterbox HD cameras and displays. The range is not as far as advertised, more likely 150ft of recognizable vision. It works well in identifying wildlife. This IR light does not come with a power supply, so you will need to purchase one separately. Also, the adjustment is only up and down, if you want to aim left or right, you will need to find a mounting device. I used the Monoprice 106839 Adjustable Speaker Wall Mount Bracket, Black, Set of 2.Update, the light only lasted 18 months, then died.

Great light with one minor issue
I used this light with a Foscam IP camera to light up a garden and it works great; it's powerful and is wide angle so it fills the camera frame. The IR light on the camera is pathetic and another light I purchased was not wide angle. This one does it all. They list this as IP65 rated which is " "dust tight" and protected against water projected from a nozzle". That it isn't as you can see in the photo. There was a considerable gap where the cable entered the housing. The liquid-tight connector was not liquid-tight. I fixed this with some electrical tape.

Great so far. The best I have found in a reasonable price range, although I still find it a bit pricey.
A very good, high powered infra-red FLOOD light for night vision cameras. Wide coverage compared to others I have tried. Works very well. I hope it is durable and lasts longer than others I have tried.
