He & my 5 yr old gd played with thid set for over an hour & didn’t want to stop to eat family dinner. I like that the pad will fit in the tub that holds the dinosaurs, etc. the dinosaurs are sturdy & perfect size to hold in their hands. The “ fossils” had them setting up a site to search for bones on one section of the mat. The mat is ok size for 2-3 preschool size kids as they dot outside the mat. Kids didn’r really expect anmals to stand on their own, so if rug under mat didn’t help keep the dino upright, not one comment was made about that from the kids. The pladtic tub & lid wete smaller than I envisioned, but kids managed to get everything indide, including mat, & get the lid on without any adult help. This would be a great gift as the set is durable and based on a 2 hour play tedt with these two, would be a huge hit!!
