This is the M.2 SSD-USB board to get in my opinion
Summary: It just works as it should, with no frustrations.I needed this M.2 SSD holder to clone my laptop's 128GB drive to a larger SSD drive. The 1st USB board I purchased was unreliable and flaky and I gave up after 4 hrs (search for other reviews by me if you are curious which "recommended by Amazon" board you should AVOID). This one worked perfectly 1st time with zero issues. The retention hardware shipped with this board was easier to use. (Harder to find, it was buried in the bottom of the anti-static bag and almost missed it). You will need a small tip Phillips head screwdriver. I have several sets, and the replacement SSD and the hard case I purchased for future use for the old SSD both came with one.Recommended.6/11/20 follow-up: I used it to make a backup image of another drive and move it to a separate offline storage. Worked smooth and fast.

Runs my 1 TB M2 just fine
and while it has one single memory chip in an area where they coulda put 3 more , it fits the full length. I like that you can split it to fit. One thing I'm not too font of is the M2 drive ends up on the bottom instead of the top , so it'd only work best if you have a sideways usb port. Otherwise it's bottom heavy and puts straing on a vertical usb port. Was interesting that my M2 has 3 RED led's on it that nobody will ever see when it's inside the laptop. But hey it supports a 1 TB SSD. Mines an off brand called Neo Forza. Not much is known of them but they do have a website. As my HP is in for service. I removed all the drives as it had nothing to do with actual hard ware, just the laptop housing had issues. So for privacy issues I removed the drives. The mechanical had to be removed because it has several Pending sectors , and for now had to be reformatted in full to get rid of them. Overall I'm really please especially with the price

Did not work; M.2 Socket is upside down
I tried 2 different drives on 2 different computers and was unable to get this to connect to the drives. Drives were confirmed as functional. This shows up in windows as USB Drive, but when you go to format or access the data is says disc not connected. This also has the M.2 socket mounted upside down. This means the chips face the board, or the heatsink would be in the way of mounting the drive.I will return this device and get a name brand adapter instead.

Works well, kinda wide.
Works well, had to recover data from a broken laptop.. I had to use a USB extension cable since the board is wide where you plug in. I am happy with the board. Can't complain for the price!

Cloning 16GB USB to 16GB M.2
I run my crypto mining rigs with 16gb usb drives. I recently bought a batch of 16gb m.2 drives so I could run them from m.2 slot and not have a usb key sticking out of the motherboard.Because these m.2 drives are 42mm, you have to use the screw and nut to attach it. For a 2280 m.2 ssd, there is a fixed screw mount which is easier to use. After getting the 42mm drive mounted, I plug it into my usb hub along with my usb key. Then I boot into clonezilla and clone the USB to the m.2.This makes it so much easier than opening the computer and installing into the m.2 slot, especially when you have multiple drives to mirror.I can highly recommend this product.

A perfect little SSD to USB adapter
This little device worked perfectly, and helped me salvage a computer that I thought was beyond repair. My second PC stopped at the BIOS during boot and wouldn't respond. I thought it was a hardware failure, since usually you can at least open the BIOS. I figured this was affordable enough to at least connect the SSD and see if it would work.It worked perfectly. I connected a Windows 10 SSD harddrive to a Windows 10 desktop and was able to browse my old harddrive and salvage my files without issue! I was even able to repair it enough to boot and reinstall Windows on the laptop which I thought was dead. This was a great purchase. Please note -- this device has no covering. It is sensitive to static, so make sure any static is discharged from your body by touching a metal surface on the ground before touching this device. (The same as you would with any internal component.)

Pretty cheap buy gets the job done.
Cheap materials used and the interface is pretty flimsy. For once in a great while use it's ok. For heavy use don't do it.

Works good for SATA NGFF m.2 SSD drive.
the simple controller for my collection of SATA NGFF m.2 SSD drives works good enough for my needs.notice the full specs i stated, this is NOT for PCIE or NVME devices, and i will bet money that the ones most couldn't get it to work, were using those different standards, and should remove reviews containing the iD10t errors. that being said, this is a generic low cost board, and yeah, they may have gotten a DOA, and im sure the seller will refund/replace. and yes, all of these standards can be confusing, just double check you are ordering what you need.my device is oh so slightly misaligned but that doesn't prevent any of the pins from making contact and doing the job, closer inspection and i noticed the perforations that allow you to crack off the unused section of the board if you are not needing the full 80mm screw length. and the included extra screws that came with mine made me confident that this device will be a great workbench tool for some of my recovery operations.
