A: I have 4 on the walls of a martial arts studio. They run 24/7 I only turn them off about three times a year to remove dust buildup

A: It would depend entirely, I think, on how tall your stairway is. 
When I first opened mine, I turned it on, number one, and got what I would say is close to "gale force wind" (only slight exaggeration 😀).
I live in a travel trailer. Every day, from about 1700 to 2100, I sit outside at my picnic table. Today, I turned my fan on, with it sitting about 8' from me. It kept mosquitoes and gnats away. 
Just before retiring for the night, I replaced some things in my Tahoe. As I was walking back to the door of my trailer, approximately 20' from the fan, still outside, I could feel the wind from the fan. Still set on number one. 
So, I would say, yes, it should blow cooled air up your stairs. 
But, to bow it into multiple rooms afterwards, might be a bit iffy.

I bought this to replace my previous Lasko high-velocity fan, and it definitely lives up to the brand’s reputation. It moves air just as effectively as my last one. In the photo, you’ll notice a little red strip—I use that to cover up the bright blue LED light on the fan, which can be pretty disruptive if you're trying to sleep in a dark room. However, if you're using it in an industrial setting, that won’t be a problem, and it will absolutely keep you cool. One unique feature is the inclusion of two USB ports and a 12V jack, which adds some extra functionality. The only real downside, aside from the bright LED (which is easy to fix), is that the fan’s pivot is somewhat limited. My old Lasko fan allowed me to adjust the angle more freely, while this one is on a fixed axle with limited positions. But honestly, that’s just me being picky! If you’re used to sleeping with a box fan, this one is a great choice. It’s loud enough to create that white noise effect, helping me sleep like a baby while keeping the room nice and cool at night.
