Pretty & I love it!
Lovely ink. Writes well. The right amount of wet/dry. Currently using it in both a platinum curidas (f) & a pelican twist (m) & it writes well in both. Beautiful color & flows nicely. It has not clogged up my nibs.

Lovely Blue Ink ๐
Such a rich turquoisey blue. Aptly named after a gem. I've only tried it on 80gsm notepaper and found slight feathering but that could have been due to the sharpness of the glass pen tip.The bottle is beautiful. Shipping was quick.

Good but not a replacement for Blue-Black
I bought a bottle of Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite along with a few colors from other manufacturers in an attempt to replace the original Pelikan Blue-Black. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned the import of Pelican Blue-Black in 2011 citing a key ingredient, dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO). Apparently this is in all iron gall inks, and Lamy and Montblanc inks with this ingredient have also been banned. The two key issues in comparing the new Edelstein and the old Blue-Black are color and ink flow. First color. Pelikan Blue-Black was a neutral medium-dark gray ink with a bluish hue. The overall impression was of grey first and then blue. Compared to Parker Quink blue-black it wasn't blue at all. I think both inks were classic colors, Quink for letter writing from the 1950s and 1960s, Pelikan for diary entries and sketches going back to the 1920s. Tanzanite is neither as neutral as the old blue-black nor as blue as the Quink. Tanzanite is definitely a blue ink, best suited for letter writing or for use in a nice broad signature pen. It is a bold color, much darker than the old blue-black, and the blue hue shades a little toward red. Don't worry, it is nowhere near purple.Ink flow. Regular users of Pelikan inks know that they tend to be quite dry in relation to other manufacturers' inks. This is a matter of both personal taste and the age and type of nib used. I use pens dating from brand new back to the early 1910s, and certain pens in my collection dry up quickly when I put Pelikan inks in them. With their new Edelstein inks, Pelikan has included a very effective lubricant. In pens with very dry-writing nibs it allows writing without drying out or scratching. In pens with fast flowing nibs it does not increase the flow to the extent that a fine point suddenly writes like a broad. I have no idea how they accomplished it but I think this is the genius of the entire Edelstein line.To sum up: Pelikan has come out with a new line of well-designed inks. As befitting new inks, none (except for Onyx, black) is the same color as a previous Pelikan ink. Working under constraints put on them by the federal government, Pelikan had to drop their iron-gall based blue-black ink entirely. Pelikan has engineered a new lubricant which allows scratchy pens to write well while not increasing the flow of wet-writing pens. All in all I think the Pelikan Edelstein range is a good new product line, and Tanzanite is a good color. Remember, Guenther Wagner started Pelikan as an ink company in the 19th century, so it is good to see they are still innovating. My one wish is that they come out with a 1-ounce bottle in the new design.

Beautiful and smooth-writing ink
Beautiful ink and bottle. It writes very smoothly, and I like the idea that it is good for my Pelikan pen. It is not fast drying, and I have to be very careful to avoid smears.

Beautiful ink!
This is a very deep blue ink. I love it because it is nice and smooth. I use it on my pilot 743 and twsbi 580.

Using for months and color hasnโt gotten old.
Been using this for months now. The color hasnโt gotten d yet and is actually my every day user. Itโs just the right balance of being conservative but catchy. Great eye appeal and people take notice. Easy on the eyes but will leave you wanting to play with more poppy eye candy colors. Itโs definitely an every day user, but doesnโt satisfy the senses for those exotic bright and flamboyant colors. Youโll need one of those still. As far as technicals go, it passes on all fronts.

Gorgeous color, solid performance
I bought this ink for its beautiful color โ it's suitable for work, but still distinctive. I've been impressed with its consistent performance in all of my pens: It flows nicely and creates lovely shading without being too wet. It dries pretty quickly too and does okay even on cheap copier paper (some bleeding, but not terrible). Like most blues and dye-based inks, it's not very water resistant. But that's about the only caveat i can think of. It's a great value considering the large size of the bottle, and i won't hesitate to buy it again.

Gorgeous blue
SapphireAfter I'd purchased it I saw another review for this colour saying it is bog standard and not worthy of being called Sapphire so I was a bit worried!I'm glad to say though, I couldn't disagree more! It's a gorgeous bright blue and for me, Sapphire describes it perfectly!I've tried the Topaz too and that's also really nice, a little darker than the Sapphire.

Clean and free-flowing
It's an excellent ink and almost worth it just for the bottle.I've used it in a Parker Sonnet with medium italic, medium, fine, and extra-fine nibs, a Parker Jotter with medium and fine nibs, and a TWSBI Diamond 580 with a 1.1mm stub nib. I've also used it in my favoured pen, a simple wooden holder with a round hand dip nib. It works very well in all of them. The colour is more of a very dark blue-grey with the merest hint of violet. It's less stark than a black ink and looks eminently sober and professional. If you use it in a drier pen it may appear more of a gunmetal grey than a blue-black, but on the other hand it will probably help that dry pen put down more ink.

Nice black, lovely bottle. Let down by poor flow.
Update: I was falsely blaming this ink for hard starts. I discovered it was my pen. I probably wouldn't pick this black again though as it didn't wow me enough for the price. I will, however, try the Jade now.Currently trying this as my 'everyday' black ink in one of the new model Parker Urbans with a medium nib. It's a nice colour but no real 'wow factor' for the price in my opinion. ( The biggest problem I have with it and a reason I almost gave it 3 stars is that if I stop writing, I have to scribble on a scrap page to get the ink flowing again. This is not something I expect from an ink at this price, especially since the usual price elsewhere is about ยฃ16. For this reason, I'll be trying some other black inks before considering this one again. It does write a bit better than my Pelikan 4001 purple though.I wanted to try the Jade but this has honestly put me off it. My opinion is that it acts like a cheaper ink which is placed in a fancy bottle and given a good quality ink price. That said, the bottle is nice to have in my collection.)I'll update my opinion once I've tried some other blacks in the same price range.

Expensive ink not sure why
The bottle and packaging are very good, as befitting a quality brand product. I'm not sure what separates some inks from others as I purchased this ink to use in a Pelican pen. The best ink for the pen. ?It is dark, in a Parker pen with a fine nib. A very dark blue.....in contrast to the green( Edelstein) which is somewhat pale by comparison.

A truly wonderful ink. I've more than 'warmed' towards Pelikan's Edelstein ...
So Black, it's full of stars.A truly wonderful ink. I've more than 'warmed' towards Pelikan's Edelstein range of inks, I currently have their Ruby Red (Red), Sapphire (Blue) and Onyx (Black) bottles and they are stunningly compelling. Their colour, when reflecting nice light, and ink written on great paper, leaves one almost drooling like a Pavlovian dog in wonderment.Pelikan's Edelstein range is also nicely 'wet' in nature. Its flow is excellent, using both a brand new Pelikan M805 Demonstrator <Engraved> Edition Fountain Pen, to a sixty year old Parker 51 aeromatic. Really extraordinary.
