Good sound for the size
I bought this unit when I found a good bargain on it after the newer XM radios became more state of the art. If you have an XM Myfi, this is an awesome unit, especially if you can get it at a very low price. Some sellers were selling this unit as high as $169 when it came out. I paid about $30 with shipping and for the price it was well worth it.I like the idea that it came with a cord to plug in an auxiliary device like an IPOD. I also use it as a bigger speaker for my Laptop. For a small unit, this unit has a great sound. Other reviews stated that the overall construction of the unit might have been cheap and the unit might not seem to be made well. My feeling on that is to take good care of the unit and it will last you a long time. The unit came with a really awesome black case that was more than adequate to keep the unit nice for travel. I appreciated this highly because I am in the music industry. One final point is that this unit can run on small AAA batteries or AC power. It came with an AC plug as well. I am more than happy with this purchase. In fact, I bought two of them.Jimi ZimmardiBoston/New York

not what I expected
I was hoping this would be something similar to the larger Altec Lansing speaker dock (XM3020) I had purchased in the past. I wanted it because it seemed to be pretty slim for the amount of traveling I would be doing. The base does not have an antenna on the back and needs to be plugged in from side of the portable XM. So it looks silly with the cords coming from the unit. Like an XM on "Life support" and of course nothing like the picture. The flip out part is also a bit flimsy so I am guessing it won't last that long. The sound is not that great as with the other Altec speaker dock. If I had another chance I would go back to the other base (XM3020). I like that it has a traveling bag and it does connect to my laptop which I am using as an extra speaker. I am ok with it for now especially for the amount I paid ($25). I will give it another few weeks than I may have to go to the other base.

A Worthy Speaker!
I would score this neat accessory speaker as a 5 star excepting for the "default audio out setting". Despite my precaution of setting the audio out level on my receiver to it's lowest setting, each time I turn it on the audio is very loud. In order to keep domestic tranquility I have to use two hands, one on the "On button & the other on the top mounted "audio down" speaker button. But, loudness aside this is a very good speaker for my needs. It presents a pleasant audio, once set, & is of a size that does not constrict the audio while also not taking up a lot of room on my smallish listening table. It is very easy to use & has an extra audio in jack allowing it's use with other listening devices, such as a CD player or an iPod. A good purchase for the price. NDJohn

Good Deal
Works well and sounds good. Easy hookup. Good deal at this price, even if you don't have a Xm radio.

DESIGN
THIS SPEAKER HAS A CHEAP PLASTIC BASE. IT DOES NOT LIKE TO BEND. IF BENT OR PUSHED INTO THE OPEN POSITION THE PLASTIC STOP TABS WILL BRAKE OFF. The base will no longer hold the speaker up. The sound quality is as expected.BUY LOW HOPE FOR THE BEST or BUY IT WHERE YOU CAN GET A QUICK AND EASY NO QUESTIONS ASKED REFUND.

It broke!
Works very well, the sound is so so, but enough to make you happy. Battery life is decent. But after two years mine broke. The little thing that flips out to hold it up must of snapped, and now it just flops down instead of standing up. Made me sad...so I cut a piece of thin wood to fit the back and wedge it in there whenever I want to use it. Still working after three years.

Great for mp3 players too!
I know this unit is meant for XM radio receivers, but I bought it in order to use it with my mp3 player with the auxiliary cable that came with it. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Since I haven't used it in its XM capacity, I wouldn't know how that goes, but it sounds excellent hooked up to my SanDisk Sansa e260 4 GB MP3 Player with SD Expansion Slot (Black). Even the bass sounds great--especially compared to other small speakers I've seen/heard. Volume control can be with the mp3 player or the buttons at the top of the unit. The only thing I don't like about it is that it makes a tiny feedback-like noise occasionally when a bass-heavy song is about to start and at the beginning and end of short periods of silence. Overall, it's great because it can use batteries or AC power, the carrying case is practical, and it's very small, sleek and portable.
