There will be flashbacks between the two different storylines of past and present throughout this series. Both storylines are really interesting to watch. And through these flashbacks we learn of the mermaids special abilities and is about their past life connections. Can they stop it from repeating and finally have a happy ending? In our timeline the mermaid Se Hwa is washed up during a storm and ends up sneaking into the rental house of Joon Jae. He finds her hiding in the closet among the hanging clothes. She has taken his favorite shirt to wear as she arrives naked. She doesn't know how to talk. When he finds her she immediately tries to run, straight into the glass window. So funny, only one of so many funny scenes. There are just so many of them to list in my review. Joon Jae takes her picture before turning her into the police. When looking at the picture he discovers that she is wearing a priceless bracelet. Why is this important you ask? Because he's a conman. He's able to hypnotize people with a cigarette lighter. He frees her from jail and hopes to steal or trick her out of this bracelet. She is very childlike and innocently trusts him blindly. Little does he know that they have a deeper connection that transcends time. Se Hwa follows him to the mall to buy clothes and shoes. She doesn't even have a clue how shoes or the clothes are supposed to be worn. She is obsessed with food and wants to eat and try everything. He tries to hypnotize her but it doesn't work. What he fails to notice is that he is slowly being pulled into the mermaids magnetic spell of love. He tries to abandon her at the mall but is drawn back to her. When Joon Jae's life is in danger she rushes to protect him. Mermaids are extremely strong. They end up on a cliff as they are surrounded by thugs ready to kill them. So she pulls him along and jumps off the cliff into the water. In order to save him she kisses him and he now has lost all memories of her. But she knows that he lives in the capital city of South Korea and decides to go find him as he promised her food from there if she ever came to visit. She is in love with him and swims there, it takes a very long time to get there. When she gets there she gains legs and looses her tail. But she has a very hard time finding him and almost starves to death from lack of food. But luckily for her she stumbles into an aquarium and spends the night eating fish and swimming in the water. She almost gets arrested in the morning, but luckily for her she runs into Joon Jae and now they are reunited again. She joins the household of lovable con men and he slowly remembers her. But she struggles to hide her mermaid identity as a dead mermaids body can be priceless to the humans. She learns to talk by watching a computer all night long. He can hear her thoughts and it drives him crazy, a side effect of their kiss and deeper connection. But what thoughts keep our mermaid up at night you may wonder? She mentally runs through what everything means. What hidden meaning does his actions hold? When will he be in love with her? How long can she keep her secret about being a mermaid? What if he finds out? He eventually kisses her later in the drama to get her thoughts to quiet down. But that leads to even more thoughts. But was that the only reason he kissed her? But she learns from a male mermaid that if her love isn't returned in a certain timeframe that she will die. The male mermaid has decided to help her, as his love has betrayed him and married another man after finding out his real identity. He teaches her how to get money. By watching sad dramas until you can't stop yourself from crying, the tears turn into pearls. But when you are at your ultimate happiest you can cry a rare pink pearl. He cried a pink pearl once when the woman he loved said she would marry him. They hook plastic bags over their ears so the tears fall into the bags. So they go shopping and the male mermaid now pretends to be her special man to make him jealous. Does it work? You bet it does. She is heartbroken when this male mermaid dies. And she meets the woman who betrayed him and tells her that he never regretted loving her. Se Hwa has some of the funniest friends, a small child that she learned that taking others money from is wrong from. This child has the ability to her her thoughts too. You don't find out why until the end of the series. It was an amazing reason. And the youngest con artist falls in love with her too. But another woman thinks it's her he has feelings for. This woman has feelings for Joon Jae . And a homeless woman who hangs out by a ritzy clothes donation dumpster. Now she's a very stylish mermaid too. I loved it when she accidentally sat on the tv remote control and a drama came on and ended before she got the answers to the dramas questions. It drove her crazy. She also saw someone get water thrown on them in a drama and went to meet someone. She was afraid they would do that so she kept drinking all the water on the table. After all, if she got wet her identity would be exposed. Our con man changes into an upstanding person because of the love of his mermaid girlfriend. There is also a storyline about his father and the second wife who is a black widow. The lead actors are perfect together no matter what happens to them. There is just to much to this drama to tell you about. But it does have a happy ending and the actors are a perfect match. I hope the lead actors will get cast together again someday. I just loved that you never knew what the mermaid would do next.I write reviews for dramas and CDs from Korea, Taiwan, China, and Japan. I hope this has helped you decide if it is your type of drama.
