Amazon Basics 16-Piece Classic White Kitchen Dinnerware Set, Square Plates, Bowls, Service for 4

I ordered these dishes to replace some very old Corelleware that had started to chip and de-laminate. I ordered two complete sets, and everything arrived intact with no chips or broken dishes. Two of the "dessert" plates (we use them as lunch plates) are slightly warped. It looks really odd, but doesn't bother me enough to go through the trouble of returning one of the sets for a replacement. If you use them in the microwave, be aware that the areas that food touches will become very hot -- but you should be able to take them out of the microwave with just your bare hands if you lift by the rim of the plate.Bottom line: Are they perfect? No. But I wouldn't expect perfection out of anything AmazonBasics; it's inexpensive for a reason -- this isn't Grandmother's fine china. Do they work as intended? Yes. Would I order them again? Yes. Should you order them? Depends -- if you need perfectly shaped plates, don't do it; if you just need some plates and don't care about potential imperfections, go for it.

I haven't had these for very long at all, so I can't speak much to how they'll hold up over years of use. In the brief time I HAVE had them, they have seen and survived:- The oven at 400 degrees (about 10-15 minutes)- The microwave- The dishwasher- Hot food- Cold food- Knives cutting food- Bachelors using them to cookThey look the same as they did when I got them. No scratches (although I'm sure they will show wear over a long time), no cracking.They are heavy, which I like. The mugs feel good in my hand and are a perfect size for my morning espresso drinks. My favorite part? They. Are. Beautiful. I absolutely adore putting food on and in these dishes. It makes everything from scrambled eggs to Mexican food look gourmet. Staging is a blast.I also bought "Maxwell and Williams Basics Slate 9-Piece Square Dipping Set" which matches these perfectly.

Very pleased with the quality of these dishes. Bowls are deeper, plates are sturdy and strong, and well made. I bought two sets and I will buy another set for a total of 12 settings. I really wanted the fontessa collection but $153 for a 4 place setting was out of my budget. The Amazon basics was $48 for a 4 place setting set. They are almost identical to the fontessa that you see in the restaurants. I'm very happy. Fast shipping with prime and was packed well - nothing broken in shipment. My only negative is I wish they were a little more brilliant white. Not a deal breaker at all though.**update** Been 2 years and not a single crack, break, or discoloration. Has been in my dishwasher several times, oven, microwave, etc. I have 2 kids that use these and they have yet to break one. Still very happy!!

I was skeptical about buying this item, as I was somewhat disappointed with other white plates bought online. I took the plunge and I am grateful as they are beautiful and sturdy. Inspected them very rigorously and did not fin a single defect, super happy with them.

We bought two sets of these dishes and love them. They're the perfect size, fit OK in our dishwasher, and have no problems in the microwave. Only the smaller dishes fit in our microwave (the bigger ones won't turn), but that's fine. It's really nice that the corners of the plate cool down very quickly after coming out of the microwave. Many of the dishes have permanent blemishes (from the glazing process?), but nothing too serious.Our only issue with them is that they're not available individually. We'd love to have more small plates and bowls, for instance, but Amazon only sells them as part of the set. Why? We don't need any more of the mugs or larger plates.Amazon, if you're reading this, please sell the pieces separately, too!

Overall, these are great. We’ve had them for a few months and they look the same as when we bought them. We actually bought a second set after the first arrived as they met our needs so well. The only downside is the plates have a few scattered small spots on them, which is how they came. For us it’s not a huge issue, as these were super cheap and the spots aren’t very noticeable, but I’m sure for some people it’d be a deal breaker.

We had been searching online and in-store for over a year for a no-fuss, solid white, square set and Amazon came through! I am really loving the Amazon brands, lately. The ONLY thing I would complain of (and it's really not a biggie) is the bowls are a bit small. Durability seems/feels maybe a tad thin on the salad plates, but that remains to be seen. I'll update my review after some time of use.

The set is ok I guess but having "made in China by Amazon" on the base is not very nice and the bowls all have paint run marks on them so there was not much attention to detail quality wise from that point of view. The mugs are very chunky. A bit disappointing but usable. Rather expensive for the quality i feel.

Just bought this set as I wanted the square plates and this was cheaper than other sets. The large plates are very good but ALL the plates have a strange line/ridge in the bottom and this could be seen in the smaller plates when on the table. The cups are very good and went in dishwasher ok. The bowls are still packed up as I can't get to grips with food in deep square crockery so I will probably give to one of my daughters.

Very pleased with the quality of this dinner set. I was a bit apprehensive about breakages during delivery but this was well packaged. Family and friends have given favourable comments about the style and quality.

Need a new dinner set and always wanted square plates. So really chuffed with it
