I was going to make a long review about not to buy this book but after reading all the reviews, I clearly realized that most men and women didn't take it seriously and viewed it as a joke... except maybe the wannabe dominatrix and her male sub.To all those single moms who out there thinking of buying it... The books formatting is very kid-friendly like Dr. Seuss books (except for some PG13 illustrations maybe). That said, hide that book from your 10 year old daughter... she may want to try the author's theory out with the boys at school... that would NOT be a good thing for her and you. She can read it when she's old enough to understand sexual politics. Make sure she understands not to take it seriously ;-)

Laughed so hard I cried. I'm a dog trainer. I love men. The overlap is hilarious and often very true. Don't know if this was written as a joke or for actual application but I can see the benefits for those brave enough to use the suggestions! I've edited this due to many negative reviews I've noticed: People get over it . . . the book is not demeaning, it's not childish and it isn't a negative view by women of men . . . it's a kink book that any Mistress will recognize instantly. Guys pay big time for this kind of treatment . . . the lucky ones get it for free!

It was ok..a fast read. I don't know, like some of the other reviews said, I was a little offended at some of the sayings about men. I consider myself pretty open-minded and like to laugh, but this went overboard on some analogies. Not something I want laying around at my house...I already donated it.

Why everyone is so bent out of shape over this book, I can't imagine. It must be TERRIBLE to have ZERO sense of humor...I can't imagine people finding this offensive. I find it good for a few chuckles. Something fun to put on the coffee table or in the guest bath--unless your friends don't have any sense of humor and are extremely touchy.

I'm getting my wife this for Christmas. I saw it on someone's shelf and flipped through it and laughed.It's a small, short book that spoofs a dog training manual by substituting "man" for "dog". I didn't spend asingle second taking it seriously; my wife won't either.Worth the price of a whopping nine bucks just to make my wife laugh.

This is a VERY short book and to be honest, not the author's best work. Having said that, I have read other works by the author--they were also not incredibly lengthy--and loved them. This falls short of love. The 3 star "It's OK" is accurate. I too wouldn't feel comfortable giving as a gift as another reader stated. It's meant to be humorous and sometimes it is. Sometimes I can chuckled because of the accuracy. But honestly, I wouldn't pay again to own it.

If you don't take the book too seriously it's a funny coffee table book to flip through with friends. I love psychology and there's A LOT of truth to it whether the girl or boy is the dog in the scenario. Yes, I think you could switch it to girls pretty easily depending on the type of relationship but it's more fun to pretend the dogs are boys. I actually bought it a few years ago and loaned it to a friend who didn't return it so it's my second time buying it. Great for singles :) Enjoy!

My daughter in law is really into training her dog, so I thought It would be a good gift for her. She also thought it was funny, little disappointed with the size, a tiny book

I purchased this book back in 1999 in a book store, different girlfriends borrowed it and ended up in marriages. Eventually one of the friends did not return this wonderful book, she ended up getting married too! Now I need to get this book again, just in case any of my friends in need of relationship advisement.
