Review: Best type of garden - I loved this thing out of the box. Very easy to set up and I started with four pods of salad greens (which all turned out to be red leaf lettuce) plus thyme, dill and Italian parsley. I also ordered some of the plant your own pods and some seeds, so five days after initial setup I planted a Tiny Tim tomato and a miniature pepper plant. ALL of the pods germinated within the first week, even those that were labeled as taking 2-3 weeks to germinate. The lettuce is growing gang busters, and I got to harvest after only 3 weeks. Now to be sure, this is not enough lettuce to feed a family, but a fresh personal salad or two each week is nice. I just trim a few leaves here and there as they start to get tall and block light to other plants. And then new leaves grow. The dill was maybe a mistake for me: it grows fast and tall, and if you trim it, it just gets bushier. And I don't use that much dill. (But it sure smells nice when I cut it.) I also made a mistake planting the thyme in the back amidst the lettuce: it's a shorter plant and constantly in danger of having its light blocked by the lettuce. But it's doing well, and so is the parsley. (The pods are labeled as to whether plants are tall or short; I just didn't notice this at first when I planted.) The tomato plant is about 5 inches high after 4 weeks; the pepper similar. I have no idea how long it will take them to produce something edible. But you know what? I don't care. The whole thing looks so lush and I so enjoy watching green things grow ... and no weeding! And no bugs! Right after setup I ordered another one for my daughter, who planted only herbs. And recently I ordered still another one of these for myself, this time to plant flowers and perhaps expand my lettuce supply. Now there are a couple of things to know: The first is that the LED lights are VERY bright. You need a room for this where no one is disturbed by the bright light because they have to be on 11-14 hours a day. Fortunately, you can set the schedule to work best for you: mine goes off at 10 pm. The second is that Aerogarden doesn't tell you up front that they are going to recommend removing all the water and replacing it sometime before the third or 4th feeding. And for this you need a siphon. Aerogarden sells one (and you can get it here on desertcart) but there are other choices as well. Just keep this in mind and have one on hand before your first month is up. Otherwise, I'm just delighted with this device. I noticed there's a version for kids that has windows in the base so they can see the roots growing. I might have to consider that for a birthday present because my granddaughter keeps taking the lid off to look in and see all the roots.

**Q: How long do the plants last, can I grow more than just the seed kit it comes with? What if I want tomatoes and lettuce at the same time?**
A: You can absolutely grow more than the seed kit that came with your garden. Generally herbs will last 4-6 months, salad greens will last 3-5 months, tomato and pepper plants can produce for well over a year and flowers can last even longer than that!  We have a wide variety of seed kits or a Grow Anything Seed Kit so you can plant your own seeds. The possibilities are endless! You can mix plant varieties in your garden too, just be sure to prune your plants to ensure each ones is getting sufficient light.

A: The one with the larger square control panel is our older model. There are quite a few upgrades added to the newer model of the AeroGarden Bounty. The 2019 models have a sleeker, more modern design for improvements to both form and function. The Bounty Basic is the base model. The lights on the Bounty and Bounty Elite are dimmable so you can adjust the intensity of the light periodically. And the garden is more intelligent - with a more sophisticated water level indicator, customizable light settings, easier Wi-Fi connectivity, and Alexa-enabled. **Q: I only want to grow varieties of lettuce.  Is this a good unit for that?  I'm very new to this.  Thank you.**
A: It will depend on the variety of lettuce.  The plants are close together - like 3 to 4 inches.  You can get up to about 24 inches high.  With 9 seed pods, you could leave some empty to get more room between your plants.  They do sell several lettuce seed pods so you can grow lettuce - I have not tried this.  I am growing herbs and they did well until the machine failed to tell me it needed water and they had a drought crisis which they never really recovered from.  Mature plants go through a LOT of water, and I use distilled, so be sure to keep a lot handy and check several times a week no matter what the machine says.  When first starting it seems like it uses no water for weeks - and then bam, lots of water.

SOON, THEY WILL BE HARVESTING ON THEIR OWN, AFTER WE PLANT OUR OWN GARDEN- FOR THE FAMILY. I'LL TEACH THEM HOW TO "PRUNE" THE YOUNGLING PLANTS, TO MAKE THE PLANTS AS THICK AND LUSH AS POSSIBLE, BEFORE IT'S TIME FOR US TO BE ABLE TO START TAKING FRESH CUTTINGS DIRECTLY FROM THE PLANTS, TO PUT IN OUR OWN RECIPES!! THE FRESHER THE INGREDIENTS, THE BETTER THE FOOD WILL TASTE... AND, THAT'S JUST GUARANTEED BY NATURE, ITSELF!! I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR THE TIME FOR THAT TO START HAPPENING!! THEY TRULY --LOVE-- SHOWING OUR FUR BABIES HOW MUCH THEY'RE LOVED & BEING ABLE TO GROW FOOD THAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY NEEDING MORE OF, IN THEIR DIET & THAT'S ACTUALLY SO GOOD FOR THEM-- AND NEEDED. "INSIDE CATS" DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO GRASS FIBER GROWING OUTSIDE... AND, THE WRONG KIND OF GRASS, WILL GET THEM SICK OR REALLY UPSET THEIR STOMACHS AND MAKE THEM THROW UP EVERYWHERE. OUTSIDE, THEY EAT GRASS- TO HELP SETTLE THEIR TUMMIES OR THEY HAVE A NATURAL "CRAVING" FOR GRASS AND FIBER. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Unit Yet!

I have had Aerogardens for the past several years now and have been nothing but pleased. I currently own over a dozen units and the NEW Aerogarden Bounty Elite is beautiful and better then I could have imagined. The new 2019 model has a sleek and slimmer design with no lost options. Let me try to break it all down as best I can. Design: The design of this unit has a more modern look and feel. Light/Hood: The Light hood is thinner. The adjustment rod that raises the lights are simple. Just turn the knob to loosen, pull the light up or push it down and then tighten. The Bounty Elite is a 50W LED hood which is great. You can also now at any time dim the lights if needed to the wattage you want and then raise it back as well. Sunrise/Sunset Mode: You can now tell your unit to slowly raise the wattage of the lights in the morning and at night. I have mine set to take 60 minutes from the lowest setting to the 50 watts. This is a great feature. Vacation Mode: This mode is on previous units. I have not used this feature as of yet. Display: The display is totally touch screen and easy to use. Deck: The desk of the unit is wonderful! There are no tiny openings for the water to come up through and cause calcium marks as it is all one piece. The water fill hole is larger and no fear of over spill. Bowl and Pump: The bowl of the unit has a special holder for the pump and where the water flows out of into the deck. Roots will have a hard time to get into the deck with this design. The pump is in a special housing and can be removed for easy cleaning. And with the new pump housing the roots are more contained. Trellis: The new trellis system is easy to install. There are four rods that you place into the deck itself and then had the oval plant holder piece. No more trying to connect the old one to the light rod. Wi-Fi: No issues getting it installed and using. This is a superior unit and I love it!
