In Pursuit of Love is an honest, unbiased account of one of the most admired, influential figures of our era and the definitive study of Diana. When Andrew Morton's world-famous biography, Diana: Her True Story , was first published, it caused a media frenzy, and shook the British Establishment to its foundations. Later revealed as having been written with the Princess's full co-operation, this international bestseller is now widely regarded as her official biography . Yet it was not the full story, as in all the sound and fury of its publication, Diana began a journey โ a courageous evolution from life as a downtrodden wife and reluctant royal to a self-confident and independent modern woman. Diana: In Pursuit of Love follows this journey, picking up the story where Andrew's first book left off and uses new sources and material as well as a wealth of previously unpublished matter and 16 pages of stunning photos. The book reveals the stories of figures such as her lover James Hewitt , her butler Paul Burrell and Prince Charles's valet, Michael Fawcett , while intriguing comments that Diana made to Morton in taped conversations become extremely important in view of subsequent events. Morton also reveals the bizarre story behind Diana's BBC Panorama interview and the forged bank statements used by Martin Bashir in his pursuit of the interview. Review: Inspirational - In Pursuit Of Love is inspirational because a very young woman over came huge troublesome situations and became a strong, confidant trail- blazer with a large heart. But above all a loving true MOTHER. This book is a good book for all who find their back against the wall. I do believe GOD chose Princess Diana as HE is in the people choosing business. GOD BLESS DIANA SHE was HERE THE PEOPLE'S PRINCESS Review: A balanced view of a complex woman - Good. Unbiased - looks at the endearing and the not so, regarding Diana. It makes you realise this woman was on a journey from innocence and ignorance to maturity and confidence. Sadly never quite finishing that journey.

Tragedy
The emotional pain is searing, the sadness unyielding. Iโm so affected by this tragedy that I feel an encompassing heavy depression crushing my equilibrium. I donโt even know why. I didnโt know her and what difference it would make to me if she were alive. All I know is that my mother passed away at basically the same age when I was 14. I donโt think I can consume another work on this subject because itโs entrenching. The book focuses mainly on the second half of of her life and a bit beyond philosophizing about her legacy. If you will itโs part 2 of the authors first book. They compliment each other. Itโs not very comprehensive. But the general attempt is to defend her against all of the detractors, maligners, talebearers, and malicious characters who are apologists for the evils committed by this monarchy. It seems like everybody and their brother has an opinion. And, anybody who has ever whiffed her presence within a close proximity of her has written a memoir of their experience. In addition thereโs ceaseless bickering between family, friends, colleagues, and associates about what she wanted, said, or wouldโve done. This in itself is demonstrative of her larger than life personality and influence. Everyone was smitten by her from in the highest echelons of society to the dregs of the earth. Even her death and its aftermath took at the very least 10 years to sort out by all sorts of departments, heads of State, Governments, and agencies. 2.5 billion people tuned in to her funeral, her posthumous charity raised over 100 million dollars and apparently there are 36,000 conspiracy theory websites about her death. The mammoth imprint that she left is irrevocable leaving in its wake an example of love, goodness, independence, and strength.

Enjoyed it
I'm a bit of a Diana tragic, so i loved the book. Haven't read too many on her (other than that Tina Brown one), so this was interesting new information to me, don't know how other's would find it. Also illuminated some of the difficulties facing Diana, and why she may have made some of the decisions she did. She was certainly a trail blazer in every sense of the world. Still missed.

A pretty good book to own, some bias shown in it
I'd read that this book was mostly the same old stuff warmed over, I found it to be much different than I expected. It's been years since I read the last of Morton's Diana books and this one does have some new material. What were the first ones called? Her True Story & Her New Life? This one tells how it all came about in the first place and is the first time I've read so many of the details. You do not get a lot of the stuff that was printed in the other books, nor in that updated version he rushed out almost before the funeral (he doesn't bother to talk about that)but you will learn more about what happened at the time. This is the first time I've read much about James Colthurst and hs involvement, he's mentioned in quotes but not recent ones. The worst thing I found in the book was the way Morton seems to promote himself as Diana's protector/ helper, even claiming (with Colthurst) to have advised her on things, and helping write some speeches. He never even hints that he might have any responsibility for the difficulties "Her True Story" caused the Princess when it came out. He gets mean about Martin Bashir and the infamous Panorama interview and starts out belittling Paul Burrell's role in Diana's life then gets vicious (especially about his book and post royal life) as he goes on. Somehow I don't think Paul Burrell deserves a lot of what Morton dishes out and feel it reflects a feeling of "Diana is my story , I'm the man to tell it, no one else can do so well". If he'd left the rip Burrell stuff out and, maybe, shown the Princess a little more respect himself I'd give this book another star, it is a good book.

Diana Opened Pandora's Box
The one thing we all have in common is that we all go to school - and one of the subjects we learn is History. After reading the numerous books about Diana, and how she told the world just how deplorable her life was living in the Royal Family, I wonder what Historians think of all this inside scheming within the various Palaces, and also wonder just how much of the History lessons we were taught at school was actually true, as it seems the various Palaces feed the press their own particular slant on a situation whether it be true or not. What is true is that Diana was subjected to mental cruelty by her husband throughout her marriage as he carried on his affair with Camilla right under her nose. No wife could endure that without going through incredible mental torture, and this poor young girl who married for love was never more than the brood mare for the heir and the spare. Her whole adult life became a mission to find someone to love her for herself, she simply didn't understand why she had been rejected, a quest which would in the end result in her tragic death. I missed this book when it was published, only finding it via Kindle, but I find Andrew Morton to be very truthful writing about Diana, after all, she chose him to disclose her true story to. I found reading about Burrell and his behaviour following Diana's death very eye opening, late as I am in discovering this book I'd never read this before. In the years following her death I think Diana would be astonished and appalled at how he's made his living since. It's been quite a revelation reading this book, both about Diana and her husband, but I can't imagine what future Historians will teach their pupils, and it makes me wonder just how much of the History I learned both at school and university is true. The age of instant news media will make future generations studying History be faced with many conflicting stories. Another good book from Andrew Morton, and one worth buying, very interesting indeed.
