Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection: Vol. 1-3 (Repackaged/DVD) VOLUME 1 VOLUME 2 Trends come and go...but the chase is eternal, just like the evergreen appeal of animation's supreme cat-and-mouse team! This second volume of Tom and Jerry's cartoon capers boasts 37 classic shorts. This delicious assortment covers their golden years. Get ready to duck, weave, jump and laugh as the hapless feline and the wily rodent take each other on. VOLUME 3 Tom may catch Jerry on occasion, but no one really believes the adorable little mouse will come to harm. After all, it would mean the end to the most popular and beloved cat-and-mouse act in show business. This is the third and final collection of theatrical shorts, showcasing 35 classic cartoons, 15 remastered in their original CinemaScope widescreen format. Tom and Jerry remain the friskiest animated adversaries of all time. Catch them if you can. The Tom and Jerry legacy chases through every nook and cranny of the classic animation pantheon, spanning six decades and several famous directors. Looney Tunes icons Friz Freleng, Tex Avery and Chuck Jones all played their part. But the enduring cat-and-mouse team was the brainchild of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Their first short, Puss Gets the Boot (in which Tom was called Jasper), was released with little fanfare. When unleashed on audiences, their hilariously diabolical rivalry delighted everyone. This set of 40 restored and remastered shorts includes nine Academy Award nominees and seven winners. Review: Tom and Jerry’s Golden Age: The Ultimate, Almost-Complete Collection - If you enjoy Tom and Jerry, and feel like MeTv isn’t showing enough of their 1940’s/1950’s classics, I can’t recommend this DVD set enough! This collects the three “Tom and Jerry Spotlight” volumes that Warner Bros. Released a decade ago, but it corrects some errors that those had. The three original releases accidentally included the 1990’s Cartoon Network “redubs” of several cartoons featuring Tom’s original owner, Mammy Two-Shoes, the maid and later home-owner voiced by actress Lillian Randolph. This re-release has the original soundtracks. It also removes the difficult-to-navigate “menus”, and just lets you get right to the cartoons. It’s “standard definition”, but in many cases, looks much better than the “high definition” versions of some cartoons that are on streaming services and blu-ray collections. (They used better-looking copies). The clincher? It’s got all of the T&J cartoons made by the team of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera between 1940 and 1958, save for only two. That’s 112 cartoons. And it’s 20 bucks on desertcart...less than the individual, partially redubbed sets cost back in the day. The only downsides: the cartoons aren’t all arranged chronologically, and there’s no track listing. Its discs are also annoyingly stacked on a single spindle in the case. Still, this is the best, most complete home video collection of Tom and Jerry available, and well worth owning. Review: Uncensored Tom and Jerry - There has been alot of nay sayers about this Tom and Jerry, but I went ahead and baught it (season 1-3 spotlight collection) and it was utterly uncensored and digitally remastered. I cannot vouch for anyone else's products for other stores, but desertcart is selling the REAL deal, and yes, it is very, very racist. So for all of you old-time Tom and Jerry fans like myself this Tom and Jerry collection is incredible and UNTOUCHED! I would have been extremely disappointed if it was censored because it should be left up to the individual to choose what he/she watches, and people need to realize that this series came out in a very difficult time for Americans. Fortunately, myself being of a newer generation, I never even realized the racist puns and jokes until someone pointed them out to me, which shows how much Americans have progressed over the decades. Tom and Jerry is still an smash hit for kids and adults and I, being 23 years old, simply watch it everyday and I love every minute of it. I cannot believe they are selling it for only $15 per season. If you love, like, or merely find Tom and Jerry amusing at times then I highly recommend that you buy it and since I have the unedited original from desertcart, I would assume that the safe bet for getting these seasons un-tampered with would be from desertcart, which is usually much cheaper than other sites and there is the free shipping dealt oo (gotta love that, right?)

Gee, I just threw way 20 dollars on Tom & Jerry,…BUT I’M HAPPY!
What can be said about Tom & Jerry that hasn’t already been said by thousands, if not millions, of other people? The gutbustingly funny cat and mouse duo, with their unique brand of hilariously brutal violence blended in with a tremendous jazzy music score, have truly transcended time and been cartoon icons for over 80 years. And besides the Looney Tunes, no Golden Age animated stars were ever as great as them. This is as close to a "Complete Series" DVD set for the original Hanna-Barbera run (AKA the most beloved era) of Tom & Jerry as we're ever likely to get, since Warner Bros. Home Video is too cowardly to ever release "Mouse Cleaning" and "Casanova Cat" on physical media. This set does not include the audio commentaries from the original standalone releases of the three Spotlight Collection volumes of T&J whose shorts have all been bundled together here, but all the OTHER special features from those sets have thankfully been ported over. As somebody who doesn't care too much for traditional audio commentaries on any physical media title not either put out by Disney or a release of a Matt Groening show, the removals of the ones recorded for Tom & Jerry isn't really a loss for me. The new menus for this bundle pack have the same incredibly basic design as the ones used for the recent Diamond Collection reprints of Hanna-Barbera shows, just placing the listings for each "episode" (short) and the DVD set's cover on top of a black void. But hey, at least unlike those inferior H-B DVD re-releases, the special features from the original versions of the sets being reprinted (minus the audio commentaries) have been ported over, so it's not a bad deal at all! Quite the opposite really, especially since, as I mentioned earlier, this combo set is only $20, which is just $5 more than the amount of cash you would have to pay for a brand new copy of ONE of the individual Spotlight Collection volume DVD sets of Tom & Jerry. If you don't mind not having the commentaries (or the nostalgic ads for other old Warner Bros. DVDs) from the original Spotlight sets, either, it's a very easy and adorable way to get as much vintage Tom & Jerry as you can in just one fell swoop for a great price, AND in a very convenient package with some cool extras, to boot. I still recommend also getting the one and only Tom & Jerry Golden Collection on either DVD or Blu-ray if you have the extra cash or shelf space to double-dip, though, for its drastically improved picture quality (even on the DVD version) and unique extras.

Great for Memories
Love these old cartoons, it includes ones that were taken off air too! Another pro is that unlike buying digital you actually own this product!

Masterpiece. (100 out of 100)
Amazing is all I can say. A true masterpiece of animation and art. The grandfather of all modern animation. It is beyond cool to have all the episodes available in one package (as a set of 6 dvd's). It's all here, uncut and unedited. Loved by generations of children and now my children too. On two of the dvd's (to introduce the character "Mammy Two Shoes") there is a dvd intro by Whoopi Goldberg as she describes how America of the 1940's and 1950's was. There is some politically incorrect humor and ethnic portrayals. In retrospect, I think a lot of it is overblown, but can see how some could be offended. However, I think Whoopi does a good job explaining it to anyone who for some reason has never seen Tom and Jerry before.

Very helpful for my child during long drivings
Plenty of stories, and my child was giggling a lot during long distance drivings. The good thing about T&J is that the low volume of the sound is ok to watch. This item helped all of us.

Classic Cartoon Mayhem by Bill and Joe
Classic cartoon mayhem by Bill and Joe. The original MGM theatrical shorts, some even in the cinemascope widescreen aspect ratio. Lots of slapstick violence and just brilliant animation and artwork from the golden age of Hollywood animation.

Excellent
What can I say more. Those kind of cartoons are simply excellent. We don't find this quality on today cartoons (except maybe the Simpsons but it's a personnal opinion). I was born on the '80s, so I discover Tom and Jerry when the movie came out and was disapoint. I give them a second chance with a strong recommandation of a friend and chose to buy those three set and I regret to have wait so long. I never laugh that much for a long time.
