Discover Japan 2 (Lonely Planet Discover Japan)

I had booked a trip to Japan knowing what cities I was going to hit, but having no idea what to do when I got there. This book was perfect for helping me plan out my days. I followed the "Four Days in Tokyo" itinerary and enjoyed all of the recommendations. Likewise in each city. Don't know what I would have done without this book!

Great book! Very thorough and handy to have if you aren't a hundred percent sure of what cities you will be going to while in Japan. We had a little extra time to travel around outside of Tokyo and Kyoto and the book was very helpful in our planning.

We had only 2 weeks to plan our 14 day Japan vacation, this book was the one we tried to base some of our suggested itineraries off. Once we got into the country, we realized that the book missed some of the off the beaten path places and shrines. We ended up using tripadvisor and other websites to see and read what really was happening in the different cities where we were traveling and see festivals and understand the weather etc.. I think this book provides some good information, but it lacks depth. The book gives you a few ideas and things to try, but doesn't go further beyond those and really fell short of what I expected would be explained/covered in the book. I would possibly try pairing this with another guide-book or possibly using some travel websites.

Good book but only has certain areas highlighted in Japan, not comprehensive of the country. Informative and helpful on the areas it does cover.

I'd read online that this was a good reference for people who are considering a trip to Japan. Since my son is hoping to teach there, I bought it for him and he said it was a very good guide and gave him information he hadn't already found online.

This was the only guide book we bought for our 1 week trip to Japan, and it was a great disappointment. The suggestions were cursory, they did not include vital information like how to get to each place in the text of the review, and there was too much space devoted to glossy pictures and not enough practical information. It was also strangely laid out, so you had to skip from section to section to find out what you needed to know. Very inconvenient and short on basic helpful travel info. I haven't researched a lot of other travel books on the country but I suggest you do before purchasing this one.

Very useful to us on our trip! Well organized and lots of useful tidbits about each city. This was all we needed for our trip - we didn't need any other travel books.

Obsessed with this book. Planning my trip to Japan now and have stocked up on these lonely planet books. Tells you EVERYTHING that you wouldn't have even thought to ask.

amazing book, very updated. easy to read

Loved it, I had a last minute trip to Japan, this helped me plan out my trip within one week. Although I missed out on a lot, but this book helped me with the recommendations with the limited time I had.

prima di comprare questo articolo ho verificato che vi comparissero i riferimenti alle città che avremmo toccato nel nostro itinerario. essendoci tutte (e di più) ho optato per questo Discover Japan in quanto la bellissima guida Lonely del Giappone supera le 800 pagg e non è maneggevole in corso di viaggio. Molto fanno anche le splendide foto a colori che fanno da accattivante preview di quello che si andrà a visitare e che in una Lonely standard non sono inserite. Scorrevole, sintetico eppure non privo di dettagli, come per la Cina la linea Discover di Lonely Planet soddisfa tutte le mie esigenze. Egregia.

So helpful for my trip to Japan. I like that it was full of pretty photos. The pull out map of Tokyo was pretty useless though (only covered a very small section).

ロンリープラネットJAPANは情報を多く詰め込むために写真は少な目ですがこのディスカバリーJAPANは主要な観光地だけに絞り解説され、写真も鮮やかなカラー写真がいっぱいで見やすいです。全国制覇を目的としない場合、この本で十分だと思います。
