Worked great to make my footswitch pedal
Box is cool, lightweight. Rigid enough as a stomp. The size i bought is perfect for a dual switch. Metal is soft and easy to drill through. Ignore the electrical tape, i thought i had to insulate the holes for the switches, turned out it was a soldering joint touching the lid that was causing the short.

Solid, well built project box.Replaces BUD CU-124 and works perfectly for Clough42 ELS.
There is a project on GITHUB called the clough42 electronic leadscrew (ELS). In it, they specify a BUD Industries CU-124 project box. The box is not available, (at least on Amazon). There are variants that can be purchased, but they seem to be way more expensive and have long lead times. I decided to order this project box with the hope that the box would fit. i feel like I got lucky. The box fits perfectly. If you are familiar with the kit, you will understand that the faceplate was originally supposed to be the front aluminum panel, machined and then the lettering carved in. Doing the machining would have taken him probably an hour including tool changes and setup. So he changed to a printed circuit board with no circuits except for a hefty ground plane. The idea was that you could order silkscreened boards that had the holes cut, and all the labels in the right places with the right fonts. There was a spacer and a display board that was attached with screws. The result was actually a good looking faceplate with clear labeling, but the mounting screws need to fit precisely into the box. The attached photo shows how well the printed circuit board faceplate fits this project box. Screw holes line up perfectly, and even the threads match. If the box was a different size you would need to get a new circuit board printed. The way the design was done, there was no allowance for error in manufacture or for a box that had been not printed to specifications. The screw holes were just the size of the screw shafts. They were placed precisely where called for by the BUD specs. The board had screw holes that attached precisely to the ones designed for the BUD box. They attach precisely to this box. The corners are exactly under the screw positions, and the black round headed screws that come in the kit (we want all the screws to match) screw into the threaded holes in the box. Metal shavings are unlikely to get into the electronics because of the close fit. If you did your own project nd used the aluminum lid I think that it would provide a solid fit. The box seems to be of good quality, it is a reasonable solid quality. I would buy it again if I was looking for a project box of this size. The casting is well done, and the threads are well formed.

Its a stomp box
Good quality box for what you pay. Not much more to say about it as its just a box. But seems like a good value.
