Actually not sure what to say. I have several books in this series and like all except one ..verb tenses because it feels like work and not fun. This one i find so confusing. I read the concepts over and over and its hard to make sense of it. I can figure it out as I'm doing the quizzes but find myself thinking there are clearer ways of explaining. I'd say I'm an advanced beginner. I got this because the basics have become too easy and repetitive. I gave it three stars because the rest of the series are so easy to understand and fun! (except the verb tenses I mentioned) and it could just be me but want to share my honest experience

The French Subjunctive Up Close was just what I needed. Not too long ago, I had to spend quite a bit of time in France for my work. While my French wasn't bad (A's in college French), it definitely needed improvement. One of the things I was very fuzzy on was the subjunctive and its proper usage. I'm sure that when I was a junior in college, I could have nailed this on a test, but it was a different story when I was packing my bags for Paris. Not only did this book help me get back to where I used to be, but I feel my understaning of the subjunctive has actually exceeded what I was taught in college. The book, like all the other books in this series, take the student step-by-step through the subject matter. It's done in a clear, concise manner, with a lot of examples along the way. I highly recommend this book, as well as the others in the series, to anyone who wishes to improve their French!

This book is great for keeping up on the French subjunctive. Many books don't explain or cover the subjunctive terribly well so it's nice to have a book and workbook that focuses exclusively on it.

Another fantastic book I would recommend for the 4 different tenses of subjunctive. It's all done for the teacher. Great to have.

This is a great book for any french student (intermediate level), has a lot of explanations and exercices for mastering one of the most difficult verb' s modes, the subjunctive. Highly recommendt it!

I used the book to help me learn the subjunctive tense in French.

Lots of exercises. The grammar is well explained. I would use this as a supplement to an advanced French language course.

I've read most of the PMP French books, so inevitably came to this one. It's smaller than the rest, in physical size and the amount of content, but it's a useful guide to the subjunctive.There are a lot of explanations about the different subtleties about when to use the subjunctive instead of the indicative, but other than a few more obvious ones, I'm still struggling to work out when is appropriate even after reading it twice. There are 5 or 6 exercises of 10 or 20 questions in each of the chapters, but the vast majority are simply inserting a word into a French sentence, which is generally fairly easy to get right. Too easy.I found the translation of a sentence from English into French much more challenging and useful, but there's only one exercise per chapter, so not as beneficial as it could have been. That would merit the book only three stars, but I give four because of the many explanations regarding the subjunctive, which is better than any other book I've seen. I just need to work harder at understanding the subtle differences.

This book has many very good examples and very clear text. I feel like I am getting a lot of useful detail - without being overwhelmed.
