I use this to cut in shortening or butter into my flour. It works very well for this.

We used to call these creamers as we primarily used them for creaming sugar and butter. I love to use mine for making pie crusts and the topping for apple crisp. Very sturdy, feels good in the hand, and works amazingly well. I used a fork for a long time, but this is so much better and faster and does a better job. No more aching hands.
