I find the items shrink up when washed and dried. I use a little bleach on my dish cloths, and the color will fade a bit when I do. I prefer buying it in the cones for ease of use and just the greater amount of yarn; although it should be noted it is not necessarily knot free; in the Sage I came across a neat knot. Had I been making a dishcloth, I would have finished it before I came to it; it appeared about midway through my knitting a dish towel. The photo shows a folded dish towel I made with Woodland Trails and just beneath it is the dish towel in Sage. The greens do not match in the two towels but both are pretty. This yarn is soft enough to work but I know it washes up rather stiff without fabric softener. I do not recommend this for clothing and it would make a very heavy blanket so I really don't recommend it for that either unless that is what you want. The Woodland Trails label said it was U.S. grown cotton and the yarn was made in Canada.
