These are thicker and stronger than some "imported" bags that I purchased at retail and discarded due to leakage. I primarily use these for packing grains and legumes to preventing rancidity and insect infestation during long term room temperature storage. I pack the food products, add oxygen absorbers, evacuate as much air as possible by folding the bag down upon the contents, and use a clothes iron to seal the top of the bag. Since oxygen comprises approximately 20% of the air around us by volume, the use of oxygen absorbers will "suck" the bag down around the product and give you a good visual clue as to whether the seal remains good. If the mylar gets a puncture or the heat seal fails, the pressure inside the bag will again equalize with atmospheric pressure and the bag will feel loose. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product *by D***. on Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2014* As some others pointed out, because of the large size of the 5 gallon bags (30 inches x 20 inches), they are folded into quarters before shipping. This results in a bit of mylar flaking off at the corners where the folds are. You can see through those little pin points if you hold it up to the light. However, it doesn't impact the integrity of the bag. Every one of them pulled a vacuum after being sealed with o2 absorber placed inside. Since the metal layer is what keeps oxygen out more effectively than plastic, it's conceivable that miniscule amounts of o2 could seep in through those tiny little pin points. But since 99.99999% of the surface of the bag is still perfect, I can't imagine that enough could get in to change the long term shelf life of whatever you are storing inside. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thats a big bag *by P***K on Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2015* I am using them to store "emergency" dry goods. Without the ten year test I am saying they are a great product and a great combination. I wish they were more shaped to fit the bucket but they work. If you are going to heat seal them get a good sealer, or make sure you iron them well enough. I have a cheapy sealer and had to run them a couple times to seal. I don't think it is the bag just the sealer. At least they aren't so thin it burn right through them.
