Lava Lite Mega Lava Lamp 17", Black Liquid/White Wax with Damask print base

My lava lamp theat I ordered on the 12th arrived today and it does not work. The base of it will not turn on at all, not even a flicker of light will shine from it.

First thing, if you know Lava Lamps, you want to know this right off... Showed up CLEAR. Perfectly clear.Second, to address the comments one person had, they said it turned yellowish after a few days, I see what he's talking about, but I don't think it's the wax, it's "yellowish" due to the lighting of the bulb rather than the actual wax. The only color transference that could take place is between water and wax so if anything it would gray it rather than yellow it.My biggest complaint here would be I'd rather see the water slightly darker, but, not enough so that I'm going to open this one up and try to tweak it. I've done that many times in my past, even built my own lamps from empty globes and other random glass containers, but this one isn't big enough of a deal that I am going to worry about it.What isn't said is this guy is slightly bigger than normal 20 oz lamps, and I like that, it's a new range of size that LavaLite is putting out there it seems. I have another base with a rocker switch in the back of it for the 50th anniversary and I'm totally loving this thing on my desk with that switch rather than the in line wheel switch that ALL my other lamps have that I totally hate and causes many of my lamps to not be on for longer periods due strictly to my lazy factor and not wanting to go and flip all those stupid things.Final thing is the package did come a little beat up. The plastic was cracked on the bottom of the tube these things come in, so I was immediately not happy, but with it being clear and unharmed, all's well that ends well.

Not exactly what we were hoping for. I don't know if it's the liquid or the lava, but the flesh color doesn't go over well with my boyfriend. He tells me he hates the pink lava lamp and I was really hoping for the black/white.

this is a very nice lamp. The patterned base is beautiful. The "black liquid"/white lava bottle is a very interesting concept. After a bit of use, the white lava yellows a bit, though, and the "black" liquid takes on a brownish tint, so it doesn't match the base anymore.I think a black lava/clear liquid bottle would've been a better combination for this particular base.

Came beat up.. and the lightbulb was broken..

the lamp is awesome. my wife loves it and has it setup in her office.

A gift for my boyfriend that came in perfect shape, was perfectly clear, and heats up faster than my other 3 lava lamps. It came with blackish/dark gray water and bright white lava. We've had it for a while now and suddenly I am having similar issues as others with the white lava appearing very orange and the water more brown or gray. If its the light bulb I'm not sure why it would suddenly start letting off orange light but after I change the light bulb out I will update this if the colors go back to normal. If I lift off the base while the light is on it still appears to be a clear white light so I honestly think the light bulb has nothing to do with it... For now though it looks somewhat Halloween-like and my boyfriend still likes it.
