The description says the origin is "Made in USA" though I saw the same item from Target and it is made in China. Thanks!** A: You are right--I looked at the individual toy components on the thing and they all say "Made in China", with Kids II Inc. in Atlanta GA & Baby Einstein as the maker. I don't think they should be listing this as "ORIGIN: Made in USA" -- because it isn't, not in the sense that a parent is interested in. Thank you for pointing that out. **Q: What ages are best for this toy?** A: For the play gym as a whole, my baby got the best use of it before she gained her roll over skill, so that will vary the age of use--I'm guessing 0-4 months in that phase. Once they start rolling over, they run into the "arches" and can become quite cross. As my baby started to roll over, sit up, etc--I took off the arches and she still found the colorful mat and the toys entertaining for another month or two (~4-6 months). The rattle-circle, the mirror, and the BIG musical star continued to be useful for another month or two (6-8) months. She is about to turn a year old...and while most of the smaller toy parts get a small glance, she does still smile at and enjoy listening to the BIG musical star. I would have donated the gym to Goodwill at ~8 months had she not still carried a love for the Star..so I am watching for the soon-to-come time when she no longer smiles at it. I can tell you that the Star alone made it worth my while , because I could start it up and do a ~15 minute task without being "summoned". I hope this helps out! **Q: is it thick enough to use on a hardwood floor alone?** A: When my baby was really little I didn't use it on hardwood alone, I usually put a blanket under it. Now that he's rolling over and shuffling a bit I'll leave it on the floor alone. **Q: What the dimensions of the mat?** A: I measured mine and it is 32x32 side to side.
