Review: Requires BIOS setting changes to work - First day review of WD 19 dock with XPS 13 9380. I have had nothing but dock issues following the latest 9380 BIOS update. Problems include intermittent connection to monitor, failure to work properly with a simple USB switching hub, and computer shutting down repeatedly requiring force restart. I followed all instructions when connecting this new dock and had the same issues. Then I came across this article: Dell USB-C and Thunderbolt Docks (WD15, TB16, TB18DC, WD19, WD19TB, WD19DC, D6000) - BIOS Settings and Driver Installation for Troubleshooting This article will guide you through the installation and basic troubleshooting process for Dell USB-C and Thunderbolt Docking Stations WD15, TB16, TB18DC, WD19, WD19TB, WD19DC, and D6000. Last Modified:13 Mar, 2020 Article ID:SLN308303 I followed the instructions to update the BIOS settings, and the dock now works properly. Be advised that NOT all of the options mentioned are available in the 9380 BIOS including “enable USB power share” and “allow USB-C dock support”. For now, the dock is working. I did need to plug the USB switching hub into the front USB port on the dock. I hope this helps and good luck. DELL could be a bit more clear about these issues.
Review: Nice docking station. - This particular model is very quiet. There is a similar one that has a noisy fan.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What wires/connections do I need, if any?**
A: The docking station comes with a power cable and transformer and a cable to connect your computer to the docking station through a USB-C connector. The USB-C connection provides both power to charge the computer's battery and a signal path between the computer and peripheral devices (e.g., monitor, printer, internet modem) connected to the docking station. The docking station does NOT provide cables to connect peripheral devices but does provide ports to which peripheral device cables can be connected.

**Q: Will this work with other non-dell laptops such that support usb type c such as the microsoft surface laptop 3?**
A: I would say that you should be ok but expect no support from either Microsoft or Dell if it stops working. Ive owned the older model for about 2 years now and I use it with a Lenovo Yoga, Dell Latitude 5490, and Asus Zenbook. Ive also plugged in my Intel NUC a few times to use the monitors and peripherals.

**Q: I am assuming the standard dell power adapter plugs into the docking station and then powers the laptop through the usb c cable? correct?**
A: Since this docking station supports more peripherals, you would use the 130w or 180w variant. This would then plug into the laptop using the USB-C cable

**Q: Does the power button turn the laptop on?**
A: In my experience, the power button on the dock will turn the laptop on/off if you're using a Dell laptop. If you're using any other brand laptop it may/may not work to turn the laptop on/off. I am currently using a Lenovo Yoga C940 after having used a Dell. The Dell worked fine with this feature. The Lenovo, I have to manually turn on/off (not using the dock button). Hope this helps!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice docking station.

### ⭐ Would leave zero stars if I could
*by S***8 on February 10, 2026*

Docking station was listed as "used - near mint." When the docking station arrived, there were multiple deep scratches all over the unit. The power button was missing paint and there was electrical tape around the USB-C connector. I was willing to overlook the cosmetic issues, but when I plugged the unit in, it didn't power up at all. Returned it immediately.
