If you are anything like me, I search the shelves at my local book store and find myself empty handed because of the lack of creativity that comes within the newest reading releases. Each DIY book contains the same projects, follows the same format, and at times feels like I'm reading the same text in each book. When branching out to autobiographies, the same exact story of loss and triumph are usually given with the exception of a new face plastered on the cover. Sometimes I feel as though with these categories, content has become unoriginal and the "true self" of people are lost between the lines of text they try to provide their audience for a positive and inspiring reaction. If you've found yourself in this same "reading rut" as I have, then I definitely recommend reading Mr. Kate's newest book release, "A Hot Glue Gun Mess".Kate takes you on a journey through short stories of her life in real events that helped defining who she is in her life today. This amazing, uncensored book gives a sign of relief that unoriginal content has not been lost and you truly feel as though you are talking to your closest, best friend with the stories Kate selflessly tells providing laughter, embarrassment, love, separation, and even those that make you want to blush yourself just hearing about! This new take on an autobiography is very refreshing and unlike any other autobiography I've read in the past.What also separates this release from others is that Kate puts her fashion, interior decorating, and DIY professionalism spin on each short story provided for a fun new project you can try at home yourself. Each story helped in giving Kate the inspiration for creating these new pieces and she helps in telling the reader each step of the way on how to create their very own work of art just like hers. You'll see fun pieces such as unique furniture pieces, beautiful home decor items, fashionable clothing & accessories, and even some makeup & hairstyles within this DIY and autobiography mix! Not only are these DIY projects fun to re-create they are also original pieces that are not found within the same DIY novels that keep being mass produced each year.In all honesty, there is something about Mr. Kate that you feel a connection with that inspires you to be yourself and live life to the fullest. I applaud Kate for being able to accomplish this with the sharing of each story & DIY project. As a long time fan of hers through her website blog & YouTube channel, I would expect nothing less from the queen of the bedazzled jeweled glue gun.

As a long time fan and diy-enthusiast, I knew the Mr. Kate brand going in when I first bought the book. So I wasn't surprised to see the combination of familiar and unexpected when reading AHGGM. The familiar comes from the signature Mr.Kate diy projects, all of the wonderful ideas are unique and quirky and absolutely doable. I love that with every project there are suggestions or Do it Elsewhere's, maybe I don't need a new coffee table right now but I could sure use a creative vase for my own home or as a gift!The new comes from the memories Kate has shared within the book, they are hilarious and sad and hopeful and so much more. I really enjoy that even when sharing stories that might be painful or embarrassing, Kate seems to find the best outcome out of these life shaping moments. With every story comes a DIY project that was inspired or influenced by it. These projects are unique - no, my memories of my first period and introduction into womanhood didn't immediately lead to a stylish idea for curtains, but that is just the magic that comes from Mr. Kate. You don't know what's coming next or what you're about to learn but one thing is for sure, you're going to have a blast the whole way through.Overall, A Hot Glue Gun Mess is a terrific combination of feel good stories and DIY projects that leave you inspired and ready show off your creativity.

I am in love with this book! Mr. Kate is super honest, funny and amazing with DIYs - so I knew I had to scoop this book up immediately. Kate is refreshingly positive and excited about pretty much everything and it shows in her book, her videos, her blog (EVERYWHERE!). A Hot Glue Gun Mess is just awesome!

I really enjoyed this book - it was easy to read and very funny. The DIY projects are cute but I don't think i'll be trying any of them - not my taste but it was inspiring as to techniques that I might use for other projects. The humor can be crude - but I am ok with that. I'd happily read another book by Mr. Kate :-)

I love this book, I read it during school and tried my best to make it last a week because I swear I could have read this book in a day, beacause of all the pictures, but also because it’s so interesting to find out about Kate’s life and how seemingly innocent Kate SPOILER ALLERT ( had sex with tiger woods in a hotel next to Bill Clinton’s hotel) and many other things, I tried one of her diys and I love it, it’s obviously by the picture I provided, the ring had a cut off animal head, she said to use a craft knife to cut off the animal head but that was way too flimsy so I use a bread knife from my kitchen and it worked however there were some choppy bits so you could use like sand paper to smooth it down but I didn’t care because I was so excited to make them, that are a little impractical in the fact that they get caught on things especially if you wear sleeves. Overall I love this book and the stories and the diy’s that follow, and would highly recommend it.

Mr Kate is awesome! This book was WAY better than I expected. I knew it would be good, I just didn't realize how good. If you love DIY and like good stories BUY THIS BOOK! #WhyNot The quality of the book is top notch and everything down to the last detail you can tell they spent a lot of time on making this book top shelf. Im such a fan of all things Mr.Kate!! So spunky and clever and definitely not afraid to be herself!! Im an interior design nut and crafter and diy spaz!! I originally was so into getting this book for the diys!! I have to be honest these chapters are addicting!!! Mr.Kate has written this so vividly!! It keeps your attention and I have laughed out loud more than a dozen times!!!I will be so sad when I finish my last page, hey but at least I can diy it up!!!!Way togo Mr.Kate, you are one in a billion and from one crazy chicka to.the next you hit the nail on the head with this one!!!

Funny stories, and great DIY projects. Some of the stories definitely involve adult related humour and content, so just be aware of that. Super pleased with the book. I've even shared some of the stories with my husband, and it gave us a good laugh!

I love watching Mr. Kate on YouTube so naturally had to buy the book. Laughed quite a lot reading but not for the faint hearted or if you are easily offended. I loved the fact that after each story was a crafty project which tied in, and the pictures keep you on the right track. Only problem I have is that the projects are great if you are living in America as I am sure all the listed items are easy enough to find, however not so great if you are living in Scotland and can't get your hands on the products easily. I understood this may be the case when I bought the book anyway so was not disappointed - it was the stories that sold me! If you are considering buying the book for the crafty projects in the U.K., be prepared to spend a little more than you would normally.

If you like the world of blogs, know Kate from her youtube channel and woul like to peek inside a teenagers view of a hollywood lifestyle tihs is a must read.
