mine work so so with a little TLC
sounded like one of them didn't want to pump up at first but after a ride at higher RPM the tick went away. I'll add more if a problem presents itself.UPDATE......... definitely an issue here. I narrowed it down to the front cylinder because my exhaust note was changing drastically and back firing upon throttling back. took both lifters apart and found chunks of shiny metal above and below the check ball/seat in one of them. I cannot prove that this is a result of a lack of quality control after being machined, because when I installed their quickie push-rods and fired up the bike they slammed in to my push-rod tubes HARD making them rock back and forth. I took tappets with blocks back out and cleaned vigorously with kerosene and brake parts cleaner IMMEDIATELY after this happened. (no warning I could find in the instructions about this possibility. see my review on them). Overall not too impressed now that I have had these lifters apart and seeing chatter on the ID of the outer body where the piston rides and the whole bleeding down issue while warmed up (it still does it on start up for a few seconds) my worn out Harley 'A' lifters didn't do that! and the internal machined surfaces look as smooth as glass to boot! I think another reviewer got it right about these and that they are "either a hit or a miss" I will be looking elsewhere for my next set.

I decided to spring for these lifters after trying everything else and I am so glad I did
I put an EV27 cam in my 1997 Road King last year and installed stock Harley lifters at that time. The motor always had a tick in it and no matter how I adjusted the push rods I could not get it to go away. I decided to spring for these lifters after trying everything else and I am so glad I did. The motor runs smoother and is now completely quiet. If you are thinking of putting a mild performance cam in your Evo, don't screw around with anything else. The noise I heard at idle with the stock lifters must have been masked by the pipes when it was rapped up a little because it is so much smoother now. Any noise from the lifters means the lifters aren't following the camshaft perfectly and that would mean a loss of efficiency-i.e. power-because the old girl pulls stronger now too. The forums are right. Just spend the money and do it!!!

As soon as I put them in and got the bike ready to run, one of the tappets broke and a piece came loose and caused some damage. š No warranty thru S&S however so Iām out the money. But everything else from S&S has been top notch and perfect. Just sad about this tappet.

A very good choice
These tappets work great in my 1340 EVO. There new design seem to work out great. Easy to read and uderstand instuctions,just pay good attention to the adjustment part, even if they say they dont have the HL2T kit in them, be Very Carefull when you adjust them. Like i said they have very good instructions, if the kit is in them its very easy to take the kit out if you wish and sell it on E-Bay.Quick tip, if it doesnt bleed down after a 1/2 hour at four turns then its more than likely have the kit in them. after i took the kit out, i adjusted mine at 3 1/2 turns and they seem to be a little quietter. Over all a very good product. Hope this helps. Thanks rls2k61
