I know when I read reviews for this I was mainly concerned with how difficult the assembly would be. The answer to that is: difficult. I hired a licensed handy man and he and my husband assembled it together. It absolutely took two ppl to do this. It also took a good 4 hours, with no breaks. So be prepared for this to be a long assembly. That being said, the directions were clear. It’s just a lot of work. I think the house is worth the effort for quality and such, but if you don’t have someone that knows what he or she is doing to build this, you may want a different product. We didn't do it all in one day, but it took us many hours. No, it is NOT one panel for each side. None of it comes pre-assembled, so there are lots of parts, measuring, etc. **Q: Do the windows have any kind of plexiglass or plastic in them or are they open spaces?** A: The windows are open spaces. I do not recommend this play house. It is cute but it has not held up well. In less then 9 months it has totally fallen apart, the handle fell off the door right away, the roof has warped and split, the table came apart and the mailbox did not stay together. **Q: would this be too small for a 6 year old boy?** A: My 5 year old fits fine with him and a friend inside and at the table, I think there should be plenty of room for a 6 year old. It’s not the thickest most high quality wood but it’s a good value for the money. Construction is not very complicated and can be a one person job but easier if you have an assistant. It is lightweight. My husband moved it from one side of our yard to the other after a couple years in one place. (It didn’t fall apart during the move.) We have kept it outside for 2 years now. The screws are popping out in a few places and could use some maintenance but it isn’t failing. I never covered it for winter. I wish I had kept the snow off. We bought the white version and the paint job was not very thick. I wish I had painted it right away to help it last. I just repainted it white and spray painted the plastic windows black.
