The Catholic Prayer Book: Large Print Edition

I was an Agnostic. I bought Fr. Buckley's and began a regimen of Dailey Prayer while in Calabria, Italy. After my 2nd week of prayer from his BEAUTIFUL book and recitation of the Most Holy Rosary of Our Lady I made an inquiry, received some age related dispensations, I began my Journey to becoming a Cloister-Monk and Priest and in 2010 was ordained in Italy by Archbishop Guiseppe Fiorini Morosini and the Prior-General Francois-Marie. This is a Wonderful book and well-ordered. It allowed me to listen to the Holy Spirit by the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ and to the Fater through Christ Our Lord. Thank you Fr. Buckley!

This volume is slightly larger than the more familiar pocket brown vinyl prayer books, and for me has several significant improvements over the other books. First, the selection of prayers includes ancient and modern prayers, from devout writers across history, including many prayers from outside Catholicism. Second, as a relatively new Catholic (returning home after three decades), the arrangement of the prayers helps guide me in my reading and my praying. Third, and this is entirerly personal, it does not contain any of the old-fashioned illustrations that distracted me in the older prayer books sold here. Simple, well-chosen, and clearly organized, this prayer book is going to stay with me a long time.

Received this book today and it's all I wanted and more!! It has the traditional prayers, prayers for different occasions, prayers relating to the way of the cross, the rosary, devotions to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, prayers relating to the sacraments and the Mass and prayers to Mary, St. Joseph and the saints. A very complete prayer book for all Catholics!!

This little Prayer Book now as well as my Bible has become a daily reading for me. This is a universal Christian Prayer Book. Msgr. Michael Buckley has done a superb job in collecting and incorporating prayers that truly captivate the heartcries of an individual. I would recommend this Prayer Book to anyone seriously longing to improve their prayer life and focus on our Lord whether they are Catholic or not.

This is a great prayer book. I love the scale that it covers, and I love all of the obscure prayers. It has a prayer for almost any situation that you might be in. It has over 250 prayers that are well organized. Many of these prayers are incredibly beautiful and effective. Some of my favorite prayers in the book are: The Prayer of St. Francis, St. Patricks Breastplate, Jesus Psalter, Devotion to the Five Sacred Wounds, the Magnificat, Come Holy Spirit, The Act of Faith, The Act of Hope, The Act of Charity, The Confietor, the morning and night prayers, and the prayer to St. Ignatius Loyola. Some of the prayers are common, some of the prayers are uncommon, but all of them are beautiful and powerful.

Much larger print than I expected---Good selection of prayers---However, I cannot recommend this product because of it's unwieldy size..

I used this book as a Lay Eucharistic Minister on all of my ships for those occassions when special or evening prayers were needed. Also extremely useful at family gatherings and those happy and sad events. My son-in-law is in RCIA and I bought him this book for contemplation and to aid him in his prayerful preparation for his First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Very nice prayer book. Bought it for my husband. He uses it every day.

I am writing this 'review' as a warning to others who might be considering buying a good prayer book. Do not buy this until such time as the auther updates it. Two examples which I think will disappoint a purchaser are: (1) The changes which have been introduced in the Mass have not been applied and you still have the old out of date texts. (2) I also noticed that the Rosary does not include the Luminous mysteries which now apply to Thursdays. This prayer book is a beautiful book with many positive aspects but the above defects were a big disappointment to me and had I known about them I would not have purchased.

Sadly in a period of flux it is difficult to choose books by their title! Is it new rite or old? Sadly this is old rite and so out of date. It would be useful prior to purchasing if books were so labelled with the rite that they contain. Not only this one but also say books on the rosary - do they contain The Luminous Mysteries?

Practical size and very useful prayers.

Love this Prayer Book has all Daily Prayers I want to say, and introduced me to new (to me) prayers and psalms
