A great tire for road, gravel and hard trails riding
I bought the 700x38 tan-and-black, which looks very classy and trendy on my gravel bike. Tire width is 38.1mm (both) once installed. I ride them at 45-50 psi, on both roads and hard trails, and have been very satisfied with comfort, efficiency and stability. Plus they appear to provide little rolling resistance (especially on the road) which is of course always appreciated. Contrary to other gravel tires, this one maintain a roundish look (between the sidewalls) as it doesn't have larger knobbies sticking out on the sides. This means a smooth transition from an up-right to a slanted (when turning) position. But it could also mean less grip while riding off-road, although not a problem on gravel and hard trails. I observed that the thread pattern in the center tends to hold on to small rocks and debris, which can be concerning regarding piercing through the casing. I haven't ridden them enough to comment on longevity and puncture resistance. But I do check them and remove debris after riding them, which is a bit more maintenance that I'd like. The installation was fair (on tubeless rims), although this varies (sometimes substantially) depending on the rims themselves and whether they are mounted with tubes or tubeless. No issues thus far. A great tire for road, gravel and hard trails riding. 5/17/2021 Update: a tiny piece a glass made its way through the center of the front tire, between some of the small square knobbies, and punctured the tube as well. At that time I went ahead with new wheels and mounted them tubeless (quite easily, without tools) , after using a patch to seal the puncture. I ride them at 42-44 psi and they roll very smoothly.

Still some of the best gravel tires ever.
Tried and true gravel tires for all around conditions. Very good balance between low rolling resistance while still being very resistant to flats. I just ran these tires in 38s and tubeless at Gravel Unbound 2022 in the Flint Hills of Kansas (second photo) and they didn't disappoint. For those not familiar with this event, it is known to be very hard on tires. Course includes sharp rocks, creek crossings, and this year quite a bit of mud. These tires performed flawlessly. The only negative I had with these is that they were fairly difficult to get the bead mounted on the rim with a tubeless set up. I have mounted several different brands of tires and this was the most difficult. I ended up having to manually mount the bead with tire levers as much as I could and then blast it with the air compressor. Most other tires I have mounted tubeless could be mounted with the air compressor alone. That being said, it was worth the effort as these are now my go to gravel tire. I am comfortable running these as low as 28 PSI in a tubeless setup although I usually run 32 on the rear and 30 on the front.

Roll very well with great traction on gravel.
Roll very well on pavement and have great traction on gravel. Just yesterday these tires got me through “The Crippler”, a 65 mile gravel race with 5000+ feet of climbing, with no issues. I would give the tires 5 stars, but I had some issues setting them up tubeless and they seem to burp more than previous tubeless tires. That said, I do like the Panaracer Gravel King SK tires and would buy the again.

Make sure it's not via USPS, as it's extremely slow.
Leaving aside the extreme slowness of the USPS, the tire is excellent. I replaced the 2.4" tires that came with the bike. Since I use it with Tannus Armour inside, it works great for me, much faster than an MTB tire.

Versatile, tough as nails
These are excellent all purpose tires. Yes, they're meant for gravel and work quite well on both loose and hardpacked surfaces. I run them as low as 25 psig and as high as 50 psig (tubeless) for different uses. They work well for touring as well, where you can encounter rough/wet roads. They set up tubeless easily on my Hunt rims, got them to "bite" the first time on both wheels. I have had no reason to remove them after about 1,500 miles of mixed surface riding, including loaded touring. As a bonus, these come in a ridiculous variety of sizes.

Impressive - 38mm
Love the upgrade. 28 -> 40 mm. Over 400 miles so far -about 80% pavement, 20% gravel. Haven't tried other gravel 40mm tires, so can't compare to those. Pros: -Much more comfortable! Can ride lower pressure than 28 mm. Pavement cracks and gravel bumps are way less noticeable. Usually do ~55 psi pavement and ~40 on gravel -Tread. Originally got this tire due to reviews on pavement performance. Rolling resistance is barely increased, if it is even there! After hundreds of miles, the rear knobs are slightly worn; have way over half the life left. Still plenty of grip. -Noise. Slightly louder than slicks, but not by much. Was expecting more noise. Cons: - hard to put on rims, no biggy though - some reviewers mentioned softness of rubber. Can't comment too much on it, haven't had any major cuts or punctures. Guess the SK+ rating works... - Does flick up more dirt and water. Since it has a small tread, only small particles are picked up. Would recommend frame protection and/or fenders. Overall, a better ride, good grip, and long lasting. Will have to see how long the tread lasts! UPDATE: JUNE, 2023 About time.... rear tread is mostly gone, so time to replace soon. Tires have held up tremendously the past couple of years. Still no flats! I run a heavy touring butyl tube with Stan's sealant inside. There are several cuts and holes in the tire from running over things, but holding up well. These things have traveled! I found about 45 PSI to be the sweet spot on the road and about 38 on gravel. Don't know why I was running 50+ from my initial review.

Best Gravel Tires I've Used
I've been using Panaracer GravelKing tires for a few years now and I've tried many of their different variations across my family's bikes. The 32c semi-slick options fit my wife's Fezzari (now named AriBikes) Empire well which has a 32c maximum tire allowance. She mostly uses that bike with standard road slicks but this allows her a simple "conversion" to join in on some gravel rides. The rest of our bikes are actual gravel bikes and so we'll use some of the bigger options there to take advantage of the larger tire size allowances of those frames. I've run into no trouble seating these in tubeless applications and I can't say the same for other brands, especially at the skinnier widths. I've also yet to puncture or tear these but I realize that sometimes, those things really are a matter of bad luck. Still, luck has held up well with the Panaracers.

One of the best gravel tires.
Absolutely awesome tire. I just got back from a 63 mile gravel/road ride in Northern NH. They handled great, plenty of speed, very quiet and most of all soaked up the off-road riding. I pounded these tires over loose, jagged granite rock with no issues. Jumped of the road and they act like straight road slicks. Very light and held air, with tubes mind you with no issues. I’ve had several different brands of tires in my gravel bike and these by far are my favorite. Also, they’re available in a multitude of sizes which is really nice. Highly recommend these tires.

Encantado
