Canon CLI-8 Genuine Photo Cyan Ink Tank, Compatible with Pro9000, Pro9000 Mark II, iP6700D, iP6600D, MP970, MP960, and MP950 Printers

The original Canon inks are expensive enough to make me cringe whenever the thought of replacing them comes up ("check ink level -- ink level is low"). But I have to say that I've been using these Canon cartridges for about four years now, and they have all worked flawlessly on a whole series of paper types: plain, plain coated, heavy stock, semi gloss photographic, and high gloss premium photographic. The results are simply stunning. When printed on the right paper with an image that has been properly prepared, my Canon injet printer (I use an older model, the Canon i6600) knocks out images that far exceed what you would normally find on reproduction prints. When I see what this ink (and printer) can do, it makes me hold back my anger at the cost of replacing the ink when necessary. My printer uses six ink colors (Black, Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Photo Cyan, and Photo Magenta). One can sometimes find a slight reduction in price by buying in sets or in multiple packs, so do your homework before you purchase. Some of the packs that offer discounts are for the larger, eight-ink printers, so if you have one of those, again, look carefully for these sets before you make a purchase so that you don't mistakenly end up with two extra colors that are not used by your printer. I have found that it pays to strategize with these purchases, rather than just purchasing the one ink that is running low at the moment. Take advantage of price reduction sets, and then build a little pile of ink cartridges at home while you wait for other inks to run out. It's a bit more "up front" cost, but can pay off over the long run. If you buy original ink like this from the manufacturer, you aren't likely to get "cheap" costs, but you can reduce the costs a little from off list. So, again, other than the high cost, I rate these Canon inks as simply excellent. They work very well, have excellent color (and generally long durability), don't seem to ever clog or cause other problems in the printer, and can really help you make the most out of your inkjet printer (particularly if you are printing photos). If all you ever do is print out color handouts for documents, you MIGHT consider an OEM or "off brand" as these distinctions won't matter as much to you. But for photo printing, I recommend these Canon inks.

We have been buying these for years and they always seem to be great . We don't use our printer as much as we use to but they never dry up and they are always used till their is no more ink in them. That's a money saver when your can use them even if the printer sits for months. We had an older printer and the ink would dry up and it was not a canon printer . These are just what we need to have our printer ready when we need it. Our Canon printer just keeps on keepin ' on. Microsoft keeps updating everything in Windows 10 making the printer unusable. The do around is to use an old laptop with windows 8 and print off of that. Canon keeps changing models making it harder to come by cartridges for older models.

The Canon cartridges always work well. My rating is simply on the value -- they are pricey, and don't last that long. I now use a refill system, there are many available on line (I use "Precision Colors" but others are available). The refill systems work well and are inexpensive, but I find that after perhaps two fillings, they sometimes start to bleed. So, I refill the cartridges two times (it can be really messy at first, but gets far less so with experience) and buy a new cartridge after every second refill. It really keeps the overall price of ink down. BTW, if you don't know, if you replace a new cartridge, NEVER replace it until it is completely out of ink. The printers are programmed to stop printing when the ink is too low, and to wait for a new cartridge before continuing. You will get a low level warning when the cartridge still has plenty of ink -- very pricey issue if you are replacing with new (not refilled) cartridges. Happy Printing!

I have a Canon Photo Printer which takes six CLI-8 Canon Ink Cartridges. The cost of each individual ink cartridge ranges from around $12.50-15 (on Amazon) to 18.99 in Staples. So no matter how you buy the genuine Canon Ink Cartridges keeping yourself ready to print photos is expensive. You can get a better per cartridge of you buy them in Canon CLI-8 4-Color Multipack Ink Tanks . In that case each individual cartridge is a little less expensive. Canon package CL-8C (Cyan), CL-8M (Magenta), CL-8Y (Yellow), and CL-8BK (Black) as a pack ($40-44 on Amazon). When cartridges are sold in packs you might think those colors are used at similar rates... but that is not so. I have kept track of the usage of the cartridges over a long period of time and would like to share these results with you. Number of cartridges used CL-8M Magenta = 5 CL-8Y Yellow = 8 CL-8B Black = 6 CL-8PC Photo Cyan = 6 CL-8PM Photo Magenta = 8 CL-8C Cyan = 4 My usage shows that yellow is used the most, followed closely by Photo Magenta, followed next by Black and Photo Cyan, and trailed by Cyan and Magenta. Note that I have a laser printer that I used for text otherwise the usage of the Black Cartridge would have been a lot higher. I buy most of my color photo ink on-line from Amazon. However now that Staples began (again) accepting CL-8 cartridges for Staples Rewards in their recycling empty cartridges program, I wanted to analyze my usage to see which cartridges I should buy at Staples using my Staples Rewards. My original thought was to buy Canon CLI-8PC Photo Cyan Ink Tank and Canon CLI-8PM Photo Magenta Ink Tank since they don't come in a pack. But given the usage chart above, it is clear that I should buy extra Yellow and Photo Magenta.

When paired with my professional quality inkjet printer, results are phenomenal. I can barely tell the difference between originals and what is printed. Unfortunately, my printer is now obsolete, and Apple will not support it with their new operating system. Planned obsolescence I reckon. But, the ink is exceptional.

I've owned several printers in the past and tried all of the so-called Canon substitutes. As most of us know, they simply do not work as well. So when I purchased the Canon printer I am currently using, I promised never to use an ink other than Canon. Although they cost much more than the substitutes, the prices on Amazon seem to be the most favorable. But I did run into a snag. I searched cyan blue on the Amazon site and order a tank. When I went to replace several colors, all went well until I tried to set the Cyan blue in place. Nothing! After several attempts, I suddenly realized that the tank I was attempting to replace was a CLI-8C and I had unkowingly purchased a CLI-8PC - Photo Cyan. I contacted Canon and was told the printer would not accept the Photo Cyan. Certainly not the end of the world. But I do wish the product listing on Amazon contained some sort of warning about the difference. I then searched for cyan blue on Amazon and finally found it way down in the listing and purchased a tank. However, I would suggest that the search and/or listing be modified in some way to distinguish between the two inks.

Genuine Canon Ink retains color and works best with Canon printers.
