Festool491473 Splinterguard for TS 55 and TS 75 Plunge Cut Saws, 5-pack

This simple little doodad seems like a trivial piece of plastic. The sort of accessory that is never replaced, however, from my experiences it should!The splinter guard forces the edge of the timber down and to be in very close proximity to the blades leading edge. This microscopic gap stops splitters from raising up as the blade slices. It leaves a very clean cut.Working with lots of ply sheeting, I've found it invaluable.I tend to replace it after each sharpening, which is rare, so the cost isn't too high.

These work very well. I'm still on my first one that came with the saw - Just bought these to have some extras.It's a no-brainer - Just buy them.

If you own a festool track saw you need this. I noticed my cuts were splintering a bit so I changed out the guard and now they are as smooth as glass, throw a few in your systainer and you will never be without on the job site.

OEM product that fits perfectly, duhhhh.

This set was described as including an otherwise difficult to find metric thumbscrew. The first one that I received did not. Amazon obligingly replaced it with another set, getting it to me in less than 48 hours. However, the second kit also lacked the thumbscrew. Festool’s own Website says that the part is in the set. Apparently Festool has a quality control issue with packaging.

Blade specific but works.

Beware if you are a U.S. owner of a TS 55 REQ. This splinterguard WILL NOT FIT your saw -- you most likely need Festool 499011.

if you're changing blades then change your splinter guard. makes a massive difference to the cleanness of your cuts. just make sure you get the right versions for your TS55 - there's an old version and a new version
