I love this bread! Tastes great, lots of fiber and toasts well in the toaster. Better for me than regular grocery store bread.

I grew-up eating very thin multigrain bread. It's a very specific taste profile. Now, as an adult, I have to really be careful with my diet to stay healthy. I have to count macros. So, if you're counting your carbs, and need to eat a lot of fiber and protein, this bread has immaculate macros. It is so healthy for you. Personally, I like how it tastes... then again, as I mentioned, I'm used to this style of bread. Of course it tastes a bit different from the very carby original whole wheat bread. However, the walnuts give it a nice flavor. It's good lightly toasted. The biggest thing is - it's just about perfect as a bread for diabetics or others monitoring their diets.

I am delighted that I could find this product on Amazon, having had this, and a few other varieties back in Germany. The taste is delicious. You can see the large chunks of walnut in the bread. It tasted fresh and satisfying. Anyone who's had rye kernel bread before knows that just one slice with your favorite topping keeps you fuller longer. So it helps maintain a healthy diet. Look at the fiber content and compare it with other so-called rye breads in the supermarket. It contains no wheat and no cheap fillers. The only downside is that the packets are small. It seems the company started offering the bread with less slices in the packet but maintaining the same price (same trick used by orange juice distributors). Other than that I have no issue with this quality product.

I was surprised when I received this to see how tiny the loaves are! At 8.8 oz. each, I expected them to be smaller than a regular loaf of bread, but I did not expect a loaf to fit in the palm of my hand. So, they're very dense...I tried one slice with butter and found it dry, chewy, and pretty flavorless, so I took the advice to try it toasted, and it was only very marginally better. Can't really recommend.

I have been a consumer of these German breads on and off since childhood. Definitely an acquired taste, or should I say texture. These shelf stable breads are dense, moist, and are best (to me) simply toasted and buttered (or dairy, non dairy, nut butters, etc). I like it for smashed avocado toast, but not so much as a regular sandwich bread. Does better as an open face sandwich bread. Once the package is opened, it is best if it is stored in fridge and used up soon. As for this particular variety-- carrot, it has a nearly neutral carrot taste; hint of carrot. There is another flavor that comes through that is not bad, but makes me less likely to buy it again. I think it is the fact that this is one of their high protein varieties. I normally just go with the regular stuff, and this is my first time trying the high protein kind. I love all the ingredients, but there is a pronounced protein taste. I will definitely use these packages up, then next time I will simply choose one of my usual varieties. Very healthy bread that has been around forever.

Very good bread for a low carb diet. Quality ingredients. Moist and dense. I like to toast it for open faced sandwiches. Delicious flavor.

This is my favorite of all the Mestemacher Breads. Sorry to see that it is not available here. I ordered it from another source. Definitely need to toast it on high. Great with butter, cream cheese (with Everything Bagel seasoning, even better), and hard cheese. High in protein and low in carbs! Very healthy!

I have bought these types of breads for years. They vary in ingredients but all very good if you like the hearty & heavier kind of bread. This walnut bread is excellent in my opinion. It is very low carb. I add a sprinkle of sea salt then whatever cheese I like and make the best grilled cheese sandwich. It makes great toast to have with coffee. Just as a suggestion, this bread is at it's best when toasted. It is one of my favorite low carb breads to buy. I gave it 4 stars for flavor only for the fact I think it could use a tad bit more salt. Lastly, I bought this bread at a much much lower price than Amazon usually sells it for........hence the 5 stars for value for money.
