Dodge Pick-ups, 1994-2001 (Haynes Repair Manuals)

Haynes manuals are pretty good. Chilton's manuals are the alternative. Haynes manuals are based on a complete tear down and rebuild of a specific model of car/truck. The price was great on my used book. I find these manuals handy to have for explanations of certain tasks or even to look up torque specifications on fasteners. I bought it used and I will probably get some grease on the pages as I use it, so new condition would be overkill. For the 1994-2001 Ram I would recommend using dodgeforum.com. Go to the 2nd gen Ram section and read. This is a great resource. The Haynes manual can compliment that. The internet forums have a wealth of information and can help you to resolve most issues you could run into with this type of truck. Truth be told, I use the internet for most things but the manual has come in handy a few times so far. When I sold my old 2nd gen Ram, I gave the buyer a Haynes manual and a Chilton's manual. I remember thinking that they Haynes manual was much dirtier and it was my go to book out of the two.

This manual has lots of photos or drawings and diagrams to help explain each procedure. It also goes beyond just showing you how to take the old part out and put a new one in. Besides giving you torque specs, there is a chart for bolt sizes and strengths (ex; grade 5, grade 8), etc. It might suggest cleaning or repairing a part instead of replacing it. The one thing I didn't expect was sensor values and how to check them. In certain cases, it also gives you tips and tricks. I also bought a Chilton manual for an '04 Saturn Vue. It didn't have all of the info that the Haynes manual did. It was mostly how to replace parts. I would suggest this Haynes manual to any DIY'er

I've been using these books for years with every vehicle I purchase, and this one, as were the others for my other vehicles, is always helpful and useful. The drawback is that, as per necessity, it is written with brevity, and without enough photos for this amateur mechanic. I think these books would be far better if they provided links to videos that described each and every procedure done in the book. After all, they taut that these books are written from a complete teardown of the vehicle... well, video each teardown, and give detailed descriptions of most repairs... just sayin'.

Bought this Haynes manual for use with my 2001 Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel. Using YouTube and this manual I can see first hand certain repairs and maintenance endeavors. I am a "show me" person so this works. In addition I bought this manual used from a Goodwill Amazon seller for a fifth of the price for a new book. Plus free shipping.

This manual has everything you need to know to do most of the maitenence on your truck. Very impressed with how compregensive this manual is. I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel has just 100,000 miles on it and in terrific shape. I wanted something that could help me perform general maitenence procedures so I could "baby" my truck and get to know it inside and out without having to pay big $$. A vehicle this old tends to have smaller things here and there that need a little attention, and I would rather do this than have a $500-600 monthly payment when this truck is the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned.

Bought this for my husband as he has a 1998 Dodge truck. This manual has been invaluable to him. He has been able to repair this truck multiple times. Please understand....my husband is not an auto mechanic.....not at all...and I never remember him doing anything more than an oil change or a wiper blade switch out. He recently replaced a water pump, brakes, and a wheel.....he has said over and over how great this manual is. This manual has saved us hundreds of dollars.........I highly recommend it.
