Fire Truck to the Rescue! (LEGO City, Scholastic Reader: Level 1) Paperback – April 15, 2009

My 4 year old son loves all the Lego City books. He's not reading yet, but we have started doing some word recognition with these books. He regularly chooses this and his other Lego City books for us to read to him. The text is very simple, the pictures have enough detail to keep his interest and the story is short but complete. Unlike some other beginning readers where the story is boring and almost nonsensical, this one is a winner.

To get my son interested in reading my husband and I started by getting him books about things that he is interested in (ie. Legos, Ninja Turtles, etc.). This book is one that I chose for him and he loves it!!! He is really into Legos right now and loves reading about them. This was an excellent purchase for my household :)

My 4 & 6 yr old sons have LOVED these Level 1 Lego City books. They love LEGO-anything, so getting them to practice their reading with these books has been easy. We gave each friend who attended their LEGO themed b'day party a book to take home - for the low price, much more valuable and well-received than a bag of cheap plastic toys & junk!

This book would be good for a three-year-old. I bought it for my five-year-old grandson and it’s too simplistic for him.

Both of my sons love this book - 1.5 and 3.5 years old. It's simple and cute and has everything they love in it (Legos, Firemen and Firetrucks)... I know they will enjoy it as they get older and learn to read it themselves!

My son loves this book. It’s got a compelling story (will the firemen save the building and rescue the cat?) and clever pictures. Great for my 3.5 year old.

My 2 year old son LOVES this book. It was cheap, a long enough story to keep his attention, and I love how closely the drawings represent the lego toys we have. I plan on buying more.

We love the Lego books in our house - they are easy to read and these are simple enough for the kids to memorize and "read" to themselves after a few reads with us. We enjoy this entire four book series. We rented it from the library and had to buy it ourselves the boys loved it so much.
