Doesnt good enought.

Created distortion and hiss with two of my head phones status cb1/ and fidelio x2hr. The volume steps are uneven. The only positive I have is build quality. Really wanted to like it, maybe I got a bad unit.

It for the price isn't bad the dac which is from Texas instruments (forgot the name ) seems to be quite cable btw the listing says it's 192 khz which is false the data sheet of the dac mentions till 96 khz at 24 bit . I would suggest if you are looking deeper into this product while buying this product check for the dac and amp combo called smsl sd793ii which weirdly looks very similar except for the buttons (it also has the same dac and amp) I think it might this might be the OEM version of the smsl . The dac itself is quite good the body being made from extruded aluminium which makes its quite solid and imo quite good looking . Build quality wise the only issue I had was with the volume knob where in the lower volumes it rubbed with the body and was quite more difficult to move for which I just loosened the knob to fix . I powered this with toslink and the audio quality is quite good it's a bummer it doesn't come with a 6.35 to 3.5 adapter . But anywho the sound quality was quite good I am an iem guy and with when testing with the fiio f9 pro the details and the over sound was quite amazing similar with my tin hifi t2 and kz zst pro (for very low impedance ) except for the kz which had very little but non noticable noise floor others were quite good .
