ARK's Y-Chew Oral Motor Chewy Tool (Yellow)

My daughter actually uses it!
My daughter, now three, has a host of oral motor and sensory issues. I could write a chapter, if not a book, but I'll summarize to say that what she should chew, she doesn't, what she shouldn't chew, she does. In addition, when she should have, she didn't. When she should have grown out of it, she began. In short, she's a screwy chewy.I've had this and other similar oral motor chews near the back of my mind for awhile, as they come up on lists if I search "sensory". As my daughter won't chew on teething toys I figured she wouldn't use any of the therapy chews either. Recently she began to chew more aggressively, possibly because I finally managed to phase her before bed bottle out a few months ago. After she ate (okay, badly chewed) her security blanket and bit the straws off many many expensive flexible straw cups, I went and fished out her old mint condition teething toys. She did use them a little, but I began to worry about her biting off pieces, since they are designed for way less teeth. That is when I began to more seriously consider the oral motor therapy chews.I ordered several different kinds. This one was on the list because it said soft, and she doesn't like hard like plastic. I wasn't sure what to expect from some of the others. Likewise, I was afraid that this would be dangerous if it could be bitten off easily.I am very pleasantly surprised from all angles. My daughter likes all of them (possibly because they came with so much hype, since we checked the mail every day looking for them). She seems to use this one the most, probably because it is softer. The good news is that so far what looks like strong chewing on her part doesn't even leave tooth marks. I would say that it is even more durable than described. In addition, the textures are just about right for her. Each arm has a different texture, but they aren't as pronounced as the other styles. This product isn't really a "toy", so my rating for "not fun" might be misleading. It isn't supposed to be fun. It is, however, pleasant and useful, and perhaps calming. This would be good for most moderately aggressive chewers, I would think. Of course, don't let the recipient chew on it without supervision, at least for the first few days until you see if it looks like it could be damaged. Also check it daily. However, it is pretty strong and durable - much more so than the softness would suggest. Also much more durable than baby products.I think that it is also calming, provides good sensory input, and is stress relieving. I hope that it will also help with her oral motor skills, which aren't great either. It earns it's keep just by reducing inappropriate chewing, in any case.

My kids love this.
Chewy great for all aged chewers. Had to buy more because my kids were fighting over the one we had.

NOT for someone with noise sensory issues
Makes a terrible squeaking noise when you chew on it

A beloved teether
My son struggles with over sensitive gag reflux and this teether seemed to help (did make him gag initially), enough to where he is able to eat now. Thanks from this frantic mom!

Great chewy
Great soft chewy. My son loves it best of all the chewy toys we have tried. He likes it because it's soft and he can push his teeth into it unlike many of the other harder ones. So far it has never come apart or broke off. We have had it for at least 3 or 4 years. He uses it off on on for stress or teething.
