It's light-weight, thinner than I thought it would be, but not sheer, super soft, and a cat-hair magnet, so I can't wear it and sit down in my home, lint-roller or not, vacuum, whatever, it's impossible to get every hair every day. I bought the black, of course, because it's so versatile and classic.Remember to wait to do your hair until you put this on; I brush my hair out first, get all loose hairs free, then don the poncho ("don the poncho"! that's quite Quixotesque, yes? haha) and sweep it to the front like a bib, so I won't get hairs, hair product, etc. all over it. It drives me nuts to see a nice black piece of knitwear on someone who forgets to check their back before they leave the house; I've done it myself, and had a man comment on how much "kitty must've really loved [your] sweater, too" when standing behind me in one of the galleries while I was giving a tour at The Getty--not classy at all, huh? This will be a favourite piece in your wardrobe, but be sure to protect it from moths; they love cashmere. I could see from the picture that it was a pretty fine knit, but I would say that the product that arrived seems slightly thicker than the photo, it certainly isn't as see-through but maybe that's just the studio lighting? I want to layer it over some fine knit cashmere polos I already own in pastel colours and it works a treat. It is sewn up slightly irregularly so that it sits in a sort of "swathed" look, I don't know how else to describe it but it looks very elegant.
