Excellent metal loom with metal hook.
Excellent metal loom. We have gone through so many of the cheap plastic looms, I finally decided to see if the loom was offered in metal. I found this loom and bought it. We liked the first one so much, we bought another one. I will not buy another plastic one again and if we give one as a gift, we will only give this metal one from here on out. The hook is durable and metal, and the metal frame is sturdy, much sturdier than I anticipated. There are things that I would improve about the hook, but for this price, I am very please. My one complaint is the bands that came with it. The first one, the bands/loops were great. They were just as I expected. The second loom we ordered the bands/loops were falling apart and stringy. I am so very disappointed in the quality of loops in the second one. I assume that we just got a bad set of loops. The loom itself is so great that I am still giving it 5 stars because that is why I bought the loom to begin with. I did not buy it for the loops/bands.I know some have said it is hard for younger kids to do, and I agree, but I sit with my 4 year old daughter and we do it together, once she gets the hang of it, she'll be off doing it by herself in no time. We will need to make more friends in order for all these potholders to find homes.Enjoy your new metal loom, quick buying the disposable plastic ones. I wish I would have known these were out there 3 plastic looms ago.

Holds up
I purchased two of these looms a "just because gift" for my niece. The first one was a plastic one. It broke the first day on her second potholder. She cried her mother told me and got very upset. I quickly ordered this one and she is still using it. It has held up very well. She has made several creations and is very happy! So, I suggest purchasing this metal one first. Not to waste your money as I did on the plastic one.

Metal- super durable!
I'm the kind of odd person that likes to make a potholder every now and again. They're simple to make, and great for what I call 'ramblings'- where you get the itching to make something, but don't know what!I had the plastic loom before, and apparently I rambled too much for it- it was to the point where as I was trying to finish the edges of the potholder, the entire thing would slip off due to warping.I don't have that problem any more, though. It could use a *little* more of a bump to keep the very ends of the loops on, but other than that, I have no complaints at all.Good product.

Well made loom reminiscent of times gone bye.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter when she was five. She loves doing crafts, so I thought it would be a great project for us to work on together, as I have fond memories of making potholders as gifts for my relatives when I was a child. The loom is made of metal and is very sturdy compared to some of the flimsy plastic ones that I have seen. It also comes with a nice assortment of stretchy loops. She did like weaving the colored loops together but had some difficulty when removing the loops from the loom and forming the edging of the potholder. That was when help from grandma was needed. Although, I think it's a great product, I do feel that the suggested age of four is a little young unless you are planning on working on it with the child.

Just like I remember as a child
Relatively easy to do but time consuming and not for a young child. The final potholder is slightly smaller than I expected but overall was good quality.

Something smelled overwhelmingly perfumed.....
loom looks fine and useful, BUT Not sure which seller put in HORRIBLE perfume fragrance into the joint packaging, but not appreciated! especially for small child items such as these. Don't know if I can wash the perfume stuff out. I won't be purchasing from any of these sellers in the future as I do not know who put the stinky stuff in the Amazon envelope pack.

GREAT METAL LOOM!!!
When I was little, we used to make potholders on long trips (before cell phones and electronic games). Recently my kids decided to give up their electronics for a trip and I was happy to provide other things for them to do on the long drive. We went to our local craft store and bought a plastic potholder loom. My son was even enjoying it when we stopped to grab a bit he put the nearly finished potholder on the loom into the back window. The loom warped in less than an hour and was unusable. So, I went on a search for a more durable loom and found this great metal on for not much more than we paid for the one made of warping plastic. I will also say the quality of the plastic loom was questionable before it warped because it flexed. I am glad someone still makes a metal loom because the cotton loops vary in size sometimes and require some stretching. the plastic loom simply could not accommodate any pressure.
