Nice rental
My husband couldn't believe I hadn't seen this movie. It's decently funny if you're close to your 40s for the era. Didn't buffer, and we watched it with no interruptions.

That's right. 5.
Technically an ill timed yet fortuitous, person to person, non-injurious, collision within the claustrophobic confines of a recently revived 1832, Old West steam engine's opulently and faithfully restored, walnut paneled sleeping car hallway which was lovingly accented with a red velvet trim that was so delicate and elegant, with an unmistakable styling, reminiscent of the proud lineage of the infallible gradmasters of the turn of the century Ottoman imperialists. Known across the globe (and when in the pleasant company of my dearest and most faithful confidants I've been know to add the jest of "possibly even on other celestial bodies that couldn't be fathomed during the heyday of Ottoman carriage interior design! There is even the overwhelming chance that we STILL may not be aware of these particularly design savvy outer-terrestrians!" I'm our little gang's resident cut-up after all) for their mastery and trance like control of any and all fabric fineries.Any way, long story short. My finger selected 5 stars for Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo. I trust it has its reasons. Also, the owner of the errant bump from the wayward walkest, would become my future wife with whom I have spent the better part of 10 magical years and 2 hellish never-ending ones. Good news, we're very old and one of us will die eventually and then the other will know a brief modicum of blissful serenity before a welcome all-encompassing, eternity spanning, nothingness.Which of us wins in this greatest case of scenarios? Yes. Yes is the answer.

4.5 stars, clever and hilarious
This movie is just aiming to be funny, without pretension, and hits the mark. It's pre-pc, but it isn't mean on any level. The people who the movie made fun of were laughing their asses off with everyone else. There is a scene that I think is the epitome of what this movie is about- i.e. clever, subtle, and low-brow- in other words, genius (t seems like a Norm Macdonald gag, to me): the girl with the wooden leg, after getting through her initial insecurity with Rob's character, is standing there making out with Rob. She uses her real foot to reach up and scratch her other leg... the wooden one! It's just so funny, and subtle enough to be even funnier. I am pretty sure Norm wrote a good deal of this movie.
