I absolutely love this version of the Sirui am2 series tripods. The 284 is the same as the 254 except it has the thicker studier legs. I was carrying an excellent aluminium tripod for most birding shots, and a tiny carbon one for low down (because the metal one had a centre column) - this setup worked well, but the longer you walk the more you feel the weight. I have replaced both with this tripod. Plus points: - No central column so can be lowered super low - Really sturdy legs so even works with my heavy 450mm lens - Lovely leg release and locks, large and grippy and easy to use - Two sizes of screw included for mounting a head - Comes with the keys and spiked feet Downside: - Only 120cm at highest, but as I am a short a*r$e not an issue for me, i use mostly from sitting postion, and even so once the gimbal is on then a large lens mounted to it, it is more like 145cm to the viewfinder. You can buy a centre column extender which effectively removes this as an issue - Leg hinges are a little stiff to open, but they supply a key to relax them - I prefer stiff so I can carry by the legs

Pros > value for money > Comes with carry bag and screwable spikes > Extreme low reach, but never extend the legs when low to ground. Added pressure may crack the joints > I am using it with Manfrotto xpro ball head. Works fantastic. > Overall length 16 inch closed and 4’10” fully opened (with ball head). > lightweight…perfect for travel. Cons: > End finish of the tubes are not good. Fibres are rough. Be careful when cleaning. Can cut your hand or loosen fibre may get broken > locks are not sand or dust proof. After photoshoot at the beach had to open all locks and tubes to clean thoroughly. The locking threads catches sand and can ruin the threads.

SIRUI AM-284 is a strong, reliable tripod. Top quality construction and materials, right weight. Easy to assemble and adjust. G1 head with 4mm ball is very stable, also easy to control/adjust levels. Removal plate and other parts are all made professionally, high attention to details. Carbon fiber legs look amazing! I updated 10 y/o aluminum tripod with it, definitely trust this tripod holding my expensive Leica camera and lenses. SIRUI delivers great products for more than reasonable price. Highly recommend. Now, I only wait for SL-200S extender availability.

Conosco i prodotti Sirui e quindi li acquisto con fiducia. Questo treppiede fa parte della nuova linea Sirui la quale, qualitativamente, mi sembra abbia fatto un salto di qualità, solita presenza di punte metalliche e brugole per il loro montaggio. La testa G1, in dotazione anche sul modello superiore (324s) è validissima, e tiene senza problemi carichi elevati, per via del comando sistema di bloccaggio; si agisce su una piccola levetta e non una manopola rotonda. La testa inoltre, avendo una ridotta altezza rende il tutto più stabile. Quanto sopra ad un prezzo onestissimo. Lo consiglio vivamente per chi usa fotocamere e obiettivi di medie dimensioni e peso, oltretutto è leggero, quindi trasportabile con pochissima fatica. Aggiornamento 12 MARZO 2026: Ho rilevato un danno sulla bolla ma non farò il reso, ho un'altra testa identica, perfetta.

Souhaitant pour les voyages lointains disposer d'un statif très léger , de grande capacité de charge se logeant dans un coin du sac à dos , supportant u e monture équatoriale de voyage tel la Skyadventurer version astro , ce modèle SIRUI AM-284 répond à mes attentes. Sa qualité de fabrication est exemplaire, sa finition d'un très haut niveau. Même en position maxi c'est ultra rigide , zéro flexion. On peut même y suspendre un poids ou qqe chose faisant office de poids avec le crochet livré à cet effet. Le système de serrage des pieds s'effectue avec douceur , rapidité et grande efficacité. L'étui est de grande qualité aussi, certes plus longue que le pied. J'ai d'autres pieds photos dont un des étuis loge pile poil ce Sirui....parfait ! Pour un pied Carbone d'aussi hte qualité, le rapport prix lui est très favorable. 5 étoiles quand même. Je l'avais commandé vendeur tiers mais expédié par Amazon ce que je privilégie quand c'est pas vendu par Amazon mais celà s'est transformé en expédié par Sirui depuis l'Allemagne ! Le délai de livraison fût toutefois assez court bien plus rapide qu'annoncé . Content de cet achat.

Treppiede eccellente, vale molto di più di quello che si paga. L’ho provato con testa fotografia e 2kg di attrezzatura, con il vento, completamente esteso e i risultati sono mooolto buoni. In confronto full carbon di marchi blasonati, tremano come foglie. Anche con testa video e 5/6 kg di attrezzatura regge abbastanza bene.

Very strong and stiff tripod holds my telescope and mount (22 lbs) well with well dampened vibration. Also adds very little weight to my setup, easy to carry.
