An absolutely beautiful tool
My mother mentioned she needed a pair of secateurs so I wrote it down. I'm always at a loss for what to get people for their birthdays so I've been making that a habit. As her birthday I approached, I thought I would do some research to try to get her the best secateurs I could find (at an affordable rate). The result, from browsing several articles online, was this pair of Niwakis. Now, given that I am fascinated by Japanese culture, I thought getting these for her would represent her need for secateurs and my Japan loving personality, a perfect gift. They arrived in a lovely bag with some instructions. My father and brother, who chipped in to help me afford them, gathered round looking in awe at the secateurs. They are not just a tool, they are a work of art.I am not a gardener, so I cannot tell you how well they work. But my mother is out in the garden everyday, pottering about the vegetable patch, repotting flowers and shaping foliage. She tells me that they're the best secateurs she's ever owned. A definite upgrade from the bog-standard pairs she'd normally buy from a garden centre. Cutting through a twig is effortless, she said, like a hot knife cutting through smoke. They are easy to use and feel like an extension of oneself, like a samurai with his sword. The only downside is they're so nice you don't really want to leave them lying around the garden, like you would with regular garden tools, for fear of dishonouring the craftsmanship of this elegant instrument.I am extremely happy with this purchase, as is my mother with her gift, who is meaning to buy the Niwaki sharpening thing to keep them in good nick.

Great Quality
Great for pruning roses etc. They are very positive and feel more precise than Felco secateurs. The clip is definate and not a problem. However, I would not want them as an only pair. The narrower grips that make them so precise also mean that they are not so good as the ubiquitous Felco No2 for more heavy duty work such as tree pruning. That said, these are still my favorite secateurs.

Fabulous secateurs
My husband (aged 78) suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and loves his garden. These secateurs are a game-changer for him. He can use these for long periods of time in our large garden - and he is very precious about lending them to me. He also cleans each blade meticulously after use before he puts them in the lovely leather holder. Fabulous!

Absolutely superb!
These are outstanding secateurs in every respect. They cut beautifully, are superbly engineered & the stainless steel of very high quality. I've always bought Felco & other good quality secateurs but these are made to another level. Highly recommended.

They are really good secateurs.
The quality of the secateurs is great, they stay sharp for a long time and they arrived quickly. The only slight draw back is the locking lever at the bottom which is very effective but a little cumbersome. Not enough to worry about though.
