With a razor-sharp, burly carbon-steel blade treated with a tungsten DLC anti-corrosive black coating, the Morakniv Black Carbon Bushcraft Knife will be one of the strongest and most dependable off-grid knives you'll ever own. Made from carbon steel, our knives achieve high hardness, sharpen easily, and are exceptionally tough. A Scandi grind prevents slipping and bites into surfaces without getting stuck. 4.3-inch blade is easy to carve with and features a fire-starter-compatible ridge-ground spine. The ergonomic handle features a high-friction rubber grip, while the included plastic sheath features a convenient belt loop.

Review: Best Budget Bushcraft Blade - 5 stars.... This is a very high quality knife for a reasonable price. This delivers and it's my first choice for a Bushcraft blade. Sturdy, sharp and offers excellent value at $30. The sharp spine is excellent for fire steel. This isn't a tactical blade but can be used for self defense. It really shines in the woods. I prefer a Scandinavian grind for Bushcraft.
Review: Grade A - My first Morakniv was bought about 15 years ago. It was a simple wooden handled knife I bought for carving wood. It dawned on me many years later that I hadn't sharpened it yet! Pretty typical based on my experience with Mora knives. Morakniv is a Swedish company located in the little town of Mora. There are some great YouTube videos about Morakniv. Mora knives are an outstanding value. Every one I have purchased (I have a whole toolbox drawer full) has done well in testing and they seem to hold an edge quite well. I really like the grip on this knife, its shape, size, and texture feels very secure in my large hands, even when greasy. (I wear XL or XXL gloves depending om the brand). The coating on the blade seems very durable and uniform. The blade came very sharp and was easily made razor sharp. This model of Morakniv and its stainless steel brother are among my most used. Morakniv is sort of known for their crap plastic sheaths but that kind of adds to the fun as far as I'm concerned. There are a lot of nice sheaths to be found on line and in the local military surplus store. Morakniv has one long bladed model that works perfectly with an M10 bayonet sheath. Even after you spend extra money on a sheath a Morakniv is still a great value that isn't made in China. Grumpy old guy seal of approval!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is this knife 1095 carbonsteel and could you use it for batonning to process fire wood ?**
A: I think there is some contention about the actual steel used, but yes, it is something very close to 1095 if not actually 1095. At first when viewing online I could not get my head around why it was almost 3 times the cost of a Mora Companion HD...that is until I received it. The knife is rock solid and does not have the softer laminated rolled steel that other common Mora knives have wrapped around a 1095 thin inner core layer. This thing is a very strong knife and I would have no concerns batoning with it.

**Q: Would this knife be better if it had a full tang? Yes, no, and why?**
A: This is an old question, but I just want to chime in here with my 2 cents for whatever that may be worth, for anyone else viewing this question. I saw a YouTube vid of a guy who wanted to re-handle his Mora. Not only was he unable to break the handle off, but finally ended up having to take a sawzall and cut it off with the knife clamped in a vice. It still took another 5-10 minutes or so at that. It appeared that the handle was not just attached to the tang, but actually molded around it and is made out of a tough plastic. A VERY tough plastic.

**Q: Is the 5.7 oz listed the kinfe alone or including the sheath too? If it is just the knive what does the sheath weigh?**
A: The knife weighs in at 4.34 oz and the sheath is 1.4 oz

**Q: I have the HighQ Robust Carbon Steel Knife, It is a little big for my hand, Is the bushcraft as big in the handle or no?**
A: I have medium hands and own the Robust which is my least favorite Mora because of the palm swell. I just got the Bushcraft and the handle is day and night different, much more comfortable. It splits your index and middle fingers perfectly. It is still larger and gives me a handful but it doesn't have the lump in the middle feel I get from the Robust. Don't get me wrong the Robust is the knife in my BoB and that will remain so. A least Favorite Mora is still a workhorse beyond most knives.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a great knife! the sheath not so much...
*by G***R on January 8, 2014*

Let me start by saying that this knife is just great! I love it!, I have the Mora Companion and it’s a good knife too, the companion is light, takes a very keen edge and is a excellent work horse, also the blade is thinner meaning that it slices better but the Mora Black just looks and feels like a more hefty robust knife, although the blade is thicker this knife comes razor sharp and has great edge retention how do I know? well on my last outing I batoned with it for hours( I know this knife is not made to do this, still wanted to check out how it would handle this test) and sharpened sticks to cook our food over the fire and it still sliced like nobody’s business. The handle is incredibly comfortable. The knife comes with a black DLC (diamond like coating) that looks awesome; the letters in the blade look almost golden so the contrast to the black looks really cool. I batoned with it so some of the coating came off, no big deal, that’s to be expected from any coating, DLC or not, and it now looks battle scared which is a look I love in my knifes. Like other Moras this baby doesn’t win any beauty contests but if you’re anything like me you’ll love the look of this no nonsense work knife. Now the sheath on the other hand is another story, it’s a no frills kinda ugly plastic sheath, I wouldn’t mind so much for the aesthetics if it where more functional but the retention systems is very flimsy and even thought it will retain the knife when you first get it, over time this retention will begin to loosen considerably, also as a lefty I would have liked the sheath to be ambidextrous, I don’t think it would be to hard to do this, many top brand fixed knife makers offer this option. I for one recommend you ditch the sheath and buy an after market custom sheaths there are many online retainers that offer custom Mora sheaths so this will not be difficult to do, they cost almost as much as the knife itself so you may want to hold off for a while to make the purchase just so you don’t feel the sting right away and feel like you purchased a 65-70 dollar Mora knife, cause lets face it part of the attraction to Moras are their very nice price point.
