Review: Best cooking skillet ever - This is the best frying pan I have ever bought. Nothing sticks. Very easy to clean. Can use a lot lower heat source and still allow enough for cooking. You can use metal utensils, though care should be observed.
Review: Great pan, good price. - I really like this pan. I currently own the 8, 10 and 12" OXO frying pan and am happy with them all. This is my second 10" pan. The first lasted about a year before losing its non-stick. That actually sounds bad, but the pan was used all the time. My son eats 5 small meals a day and this pan might be used 2 or 3 times a day. He has a tendency to cook with higher heat than needed and he uses cooking spray like its going out of style. When I received this new pan, I noticed it had a sticker declaring not to use cooking spray and not to use high heat. I do not remember the first one having that sticker, but figured that was what killed the pan. Anyway, the non-stick on this is great. I have been cooking for 40+ years and have used many different brands of frying pans, from cheap Walmart brand to Calphalon and the Oxo is definitely my favorite. In terms of cost, they are in the middle of the pack, but they perform better than the much more expensive Calphalon pans that I have owned. Build quality is top notch. The pans are light, even the 12" pan, which is a huge bonus for my wife. I would most likely use Cast Iron for all my frying pan needs if they weren't so heavy. My wife won't touch them. My son recently bought a ridiculously overprice Made In stainless steel pan. It cost 2.5 times more than the Oxo and he still uses my Oxo more than his Made In. Generally, I can use a paper towel to clean these pans of debris. the Made In, no chance. That thing is a pain in the butt to clean. Don't believe the hype with pans like Made In or Hexclad. I have used Oxo brand utensils for years and have been happy with them. I didn't know the pans existed because none of my local stores sell them. I found out about them from America's Test Kitchen. They were their best pick. Project Farm also did a review of frying pans and rated the Oxo a very close second to the winner. Where has Hexclad? Below the Oxo, but more than 3 times the price. I don't think I'll buy anything but Oxo frying pans from now on.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why did the price on this pan suddenly increase so much? was it because of the america's test kitchen positive review?**
A: I think the manufacturer must have just decided to jack up the price because the pan is so popular. I bought my 12-inch Oxo non-stick skillet just three months ago (August 2020) and it was $39 then as compared to the $59 it is now going for. I am sure it is the same pan because when I placed my order in August, the description said, "America’s Test Kitchen’s highest-rated non-stick skillet," which is one of the primary reasons I bought it. Disappointing, to say the least, to see such a huge jump in price. That's a 50 percent increase!

**Q: Does anyone know the difference between the oxo non-stick and the oxo non-stick pro?**
A: OXO Good Grips Non-Stick has stainless steel handle wrapped in heat-resistant silicone, oven safe up to 390 Degree Fahrenheit and dishwasher safe; carries 10 years warranty.
OXO Good Grips Non-Stick Pro has stainless steel handle, oven safe up to 430 Degree Fahrenheit and dishwasher safe; carries life time warranty.

**Q: I see this is pfoa free, what about ptfe?**
A: Cast iron can leech a sizable amount of iron. Of all of the micronutrients, iron is one of the riskiest to overload on. Aluminum is another problematic material that can result in lead contamination if the pan is not anodized or coated with some nonstick coating. THAT is what you what: anodized aluminum with a nonstick coating. THAT is what this is. Yea!!!

A PTFE-based coating that is PFOA free. There is no evidence of any toxicity for ingested PTFE coatings. Heck, even Teflon is safe today because Teflon has been manufactured without PFOA since 2013. Coated anodized aluminum has the advantage of being more durable (than Teflon). But the worst is ceramic. It only lasts 2-3 years and warps. It's not really ceramic. It's called ceramic due to its glossy appearance (from sand-derived silicon).

It's best if you don't use ceramic cookware at higher temps, use metal utensils, or put in the dishwasher ... all the best features of this cookware. My #1 pet peeve with ceramic is the uneven heating, which this cookware is very good at. You should not have any health concerns with this pan. It is the highest rated by all professional reviewers. Google this.

The only comparable option is the newer Ninja NeverStick Premium (NOT Essential) pan, which is slightly more durable. IMHO, you should buy whichever pan is cheaper UNLESS you need induction compatibility ... then the Ninja's stainless-steel bottom easily wins.

Freakin Reviews says Ninja NeverStick Premium 12-inch pan is the best product of 2021.

**Q: Is the bottom perfectly flat? I have a glass cooktop and any curvature in the pans means uneven cooking and scratches on the glass**
A: Perfectly flat. To maintain condition, allow the pan to warm gradually. Glass top, and electric coil range tops don't heat the bottom evenly enough, causing the bottom to heat and expand at uneven rates. This is what causes the warping.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Top Choice for a Nonstick Pan
*by M***R on October 23, 2023*

This review is for OXO Good Grips Pro 12" Frying Pan Skillet, 3-Layered German Engineered Nonstick Coating, Dishwasher Safe, Oven Safe, Stainless Steel Handle, Black. I purchased this for a house member who really likes nonstick cookware. I ordered this one, because Cook's Illustrated America's Test Kitchen rated it the best. It's a very nice pan, and we have used it many times so far. The nonstick surface is holding up very well, and it is definitely nonstick. We have cooked eggs, meat, chicken, fish, and other items in it. Nothing stuck to the pan. We only hand wash it, and we only use non-metal utensils with it. The weight of the pan is good, and the handle is comfortable and ergonomic. All-in-all this is a great pan if you are looking for something nonstick. A side note about nonstick pans: I am generally not a fan of nonstick pans. I don't like cooking with something that is a part of planned obsolescence. All nonstick cookware slowly starts to wear down with use. It is just the nature of it. So, eventually all nonstick cookware has to be replaced, as eventually it will lose its nonstick properties. This brings me to the other part that I don't like. Nonstick cookware uses chemical products to make it nonstick, and those chemicals wind up in your food. Reports claim the chemicals are safe, but you have to judge your level of confidence in the reports. I don't see a benefit to having added chemicals in my food. Also, you can't use metal utensils with nonstick pans, as the metal will damage the nonstick coating. This generally means one set of non-metal cooking utensils and a separate set of metal utensils to use with your standard cookware. So, I have two sets of cooking utensils. Also, different nonstick cookware will have different maximum temperature ratings. This pan is rated up to 430 F degrees. If you go above that you breakdown the chemical nonstick coating, which not only ruins the nonstick coating, but it also puts those chemicals into your food. I once had a different brand of nonstick pan many years ago that I cooked an omelette in. The nonstick coating had broken down and left all sorts of black flakes on my omelette, so both the omelette and pan went into the garbage. Personally, I prefer to go with a high-quality, multi-clad, stainless steel set of pots & pans that I can use any utensils on that I like and will last me forever. However, if you are going to purchase a nonstick pan this one is an excellent choice because it is a good pan and at a good price point for replacement.
