I gave this a hard induction…
It passed with flying colours. First used was to drill through floors and joists and this had the torque to drive a 26mm bit through evens when it hit a nail. At the other extreme the torque setting for screws has been sensitive enough for small threads in soft wood.Only complaint would be you have to get the drill really spinning for the torque limiter to work, if you’re using the multi speed trigger, expect to guess the torque limits at slow speedsSolid build and even a 2Ah battery is good for most tasks. Add a 5Ah and fast charger if you want to build all day.

King of drills
I already have three DeWalt drills. All still working. Bought this one as a bare drill, no box or battery. As a professional craftsman it sometimes makes sense to have a few drills handy. This one is a beast. Sounds like a metal gearbox and feels like it will last forever

Wow, how things change.
I bought a Dewalt DC725 type 10 many years ago for around £100 and it came with 2 batteries. As an avid DIY'er this has repaired/built so much in our house and in no way whatsoever has it not been worth every penny. However getting older (bit like the owner) the batteries died and I bought an upgrade which to be fair has lasted for years. This is now failing as well and I made the decision to buy a new drill. This drill (with 5.0ah battery) is around 500g lighter than my old one but the difference is amazing. This is a beast of a drill....... BEAST! I find it blasts through tiles/concrete with ease and it has extra features which make it such a great piece of kit. Firstly it uses the same batteries that my driver uses so I have the ability to swap one over if the other is on charge. It has a battery level charge indicator which I find most helpful. This is also much more powerful than my old drill. My old drill only gave an idea of going flat when the chuck started slowing when putting a drill in. The added feature of a light is good in dark areas and is adjustable to sort your needs. Now the down side. The chuck has a fairly small knurl finish which I find hard to grab onto when putting drills in and can hurt your hand but that said it's just something to get used to. Very hard to find any other fault as it's just a great drill. Wonderful piece of kit and I hope it lasts as long as my old one.

Great Tool, Good Price
After about 7 years of heavy use, my old DeWalt 18v drill finally died. This was a 'brushed' model, and I'm surprised that it lasted so long. Up-gunned to a newer, brushless model and it's fantastic. Although it has the same power rating as my older model, it appears to have much more power, and the chuck holds the bit much more effectively than the old one. First job was to use a hole saw to cut some discs (24 of them) from a sheet of 18mm ply - hard work for any drill. When I'd finished my 5AH battery had only dropped from 3 bars to 2 bars. Would highly recommend for serious DIYers - a pro tool at a very good price.

Waste of money
Bought this thinking it was a good make. Bloody crap. Unfortunately I didn’t use it straight away and when I did use it the drill only spins for a second then cuts out. Absolute waste of money.
